Ya I hope Kylo being a Skywalker/Solo isn't supposed to be a big surprise. I'd be more surprised if it turns out he isn't one. What you posted is probably pretty close to the actual story. You just left out that by the end of the trilogy he will turn to the light side and be the hero that saves the day.

i guess there needs to be surprises huh, Im glad i actually dont know anything. I think part of the let down for the last three movies is that we basically knew where the movies were already going.
if kylo is solo and leias son, having him rebel against the parents ideal seems like a pretty natural and classic story line in a way. perhaps he believes the empire at least had order etc etc. idk, i shouldnt put too much thought into it and just go in with a blank slate.
it is disney.. so i guess we will get a happy ending somewhere right

Yeah I grew up reading those books. The X-Wing serious would have been a fantastic 9 movies and the bounty hunter wars...yeah everyone would finally understand why Boba Fett was a god damn badass.
In the books the ones I read centered around characters in the movies. Off the top of my head I, Jedi is the only book I have read and can thing of that had a main character not from the movies.

They said that they went with practical effects over CGI as much as possible with the movie. But there's still only so much you can do.

Kylo ren is the birth twin of Kyra Rey, the children of Han and Leia. They were separated at birth and hidden to protect them from the empire just like Luke and Leia. Rey has no idea she has a brother, nor does she have any idea she has any real ability with the force. Chance starts her legacy path to become the next luke in the series. The Empire does this in their pursuit of Finn (the next han solo) - It also brings the death of han during the Finn and Rey exodus of tatooine.
While escaping tatooine in the millennium falcon, Han decides to take Rey to meet luke on some unknown snowy planet, but they are followed by Kylo Ren who ends up shooting down the falcon on this planet. Long story short, Han confronts Kylo and is killed while Kyra Rey watches from afar. A small battle ensues against Kylo Ren with Rey, Chewy, and Finn after this but "something" happens to end the battle without further bloodshed and the two parties are separated.
After this confrontation and the death of Han - enter Luke. Blah blah blahs of his past are shown and talked while discussing the force in his family to REY.... she becomes the next luke and follows his path. Rey trains as a jedi late in her life as did luke and luke becomes obi wan. Rey, starting so late in her training will become a jedi knight by episode 9, just like her uncle before her and her grandfather before that.
Eventually Rey confronts Kylo Ren again, but this time its in Ep 8, this is where the story twists and secrets are revealed. Rey basically calls out Kylo for killing her father only to have a "he was my father too" (thus im your brother) moment. A small fight breaks out and Ren trys to pursued Rey to join the darkside of the force and to rule the galaxy together as Brother and Sister as opposed to father and son. Rey then yadda yadda yadda dingo piss.
Anyway you get the idea.... reboot in a sense.

Same here. I think I am going to marathon New Hope, Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi with my 6 year old daughter...and then take her to see this on IMAX or something.

Agreed. Too bad they are going to steer clear of the EU (for now, anyway). He would make an EPIC villain.
