You know why? Because we didn't have many of these things 100 years ago. But they were keeping track of the weather.

And lo and behold the same weather patterns that happened back then, ARE THE SAME FUCKING THINGS THAT ARE GOING ON TODAY.l

Now get your nose out of the Al Gore biography you're reading and get back to work analyzing something worth while. Like hockey stats for starters.

Hold on, so they don't have weather data from 100s of years ago, but the same weather patterns are happening today? How can you make a statement that can't be proven with empirical data?

Yes, but all of those things are time consuming over 2000 miles. And I would imagine weather would play a role in it's progress as well. That's 1,000 miles a year. Working 24/7 that's almost 3 miles of pipeline a day. I don't even know if they have the ability to clear the path that fast. Let alone clear the path, remove the garbage, survey, adjust, lay pipe (yeah I said it), pack up move down... I don't even think they can repave 3 miles a day. God that would be awesome.

Point to ponder. Alberta, Canada has stated that they are drilling regardless and they will reroute the pipeline west and import it to other foreign countries.

Say whatever you want but this is a big economic benefit to come through the U.S.

10,000 or 20,000 or 100,000 the bottom line is that it is major, it provides jobs that pay taxes AND will create economic opportunities in the areas where it is being run. Green energy is not currently marketable, there is nothing in the near future that shows otherwise and to wait for that to happen while doing nothing else is insansity.

THIS IS A MAJOR F UP ON THE BEHALF OF OBAMA AND THE WHITE HOUSE and all to please a small group of radical enviromentalists. Pathetic

Exactly. No one is against green energy in any way. It's just not feasable right now.

Man, it sure would be nice to not see gas go up 20 cents a gallon in one day every time a middle east dictator flaps his gums about something.

A pipeline is a hell of a lot safer then any other means of transporting oil.

Your commentary is correct, I seldom miss the opportunity. I think he does one thing very well and that is divide this country. He never misses his opportunity to blame other parties or to define every citizen by class. He is the leader that does not lead and let's things happen around him and then places blame. He is tearing apart our country from the inside or at the very least, allowing it to happen.

This decision on the pipeline is 100% the decision of Obama and his administration. I challenge anyone to refute that.

Or maybe the real story, which has yet to come out, is that the US wants a higher yield of the profits of this resource if we are going to be expected to take on the risk of transporting it through our territory. Ever thought about that?

When measured against all the horrible seaborn oil spills in the last 100 years, okay.

But did you bother to read the link I posted that mentioned using inferior grade pipes or running the system at a higher pressure than what was deemed safe by planners?

Yes, the one that was withdrawn a year and a half ago? "the company withdrew its safety waiver application in August 2010."

Hey at least your honest about that.

See then I don't want that company even involved in the project. I understand they withdrew the waiver app but it shouldn't have been asked. With oil because of the environmental damage it can cause you need to be as safe as possible. I have no issue about the pipeline and I think most level headed people are okay with it as long as it is done in the safest way possible.

Look at the BP oil spill, if everyone wasn't lax it probably doesn't happen. When dealing with something like crude oil. The rules need to followed to the T or you need to do better than the rules.

The one thing I tend to dislike about companies is they no longer want to do the job right, they want to do it cheaply to maximize the profits.

So here is a stupid question... Why do we need the pipeline at all? It's just moving the oil from one place to another to be refined or something right? Why not just buidl refineries where the oil is. Or much closer to where the oil is? hell why doens't canadia do that? The oil is going to a place where it's just going to have to be shipped out again. I don't understand why it needs to be moved to be refined.

Quebec is full of awesome people and delicious poutine. BC has some dirtbags, but it's pretty and has an ocean and also me, so it gets 10 million super awesome points.

Super awesome points are the most accurate measure of how great a geographical location is.

I do, but having the Canucks in your Province really bring you down a notch.

However, if we combine our super awesome points, as I have billions, and the possesor of all other super awesome points, we may be able to rid BC of the bad karmic stink pickle that is the Canucks.
