Wow... this thread definitely has gone all over the place. I think before the draft, Poles has to still pick up some type of competition at RT, across the Dline and Corner unless he is going to go into the draft being forced to draft specific positions. It feels like he wouldn't put himself in that position, but it really comes down to whether he seems more scheme fits at the right value to him. It's clear he's not going to open up the wallet just because we have a ton of cap space left.

Poles will be holding on to his cap space until the majority of his draft picks are experienced enough to compete for a championship. Please stop with the “Bears have the most cap space” narrative. It’s irrelevant for at least another two years.

Poles isn’t spending it on starters at premium positions who will demand top dollar. He is bargain shopping while he continues to build a championship team thru the draft.

Most teams try and make a push while they have their QB on a rookie contract. Surround them with a talented team and give them the best possible chance to succeed. It's when they prove themselves under these circumstances that when it's time for a new contract that you begin to trim the roster a little bit.

And the whole bargain shop narrative is fine and all. There's no problem with trying to find a good value. You can't add premium talent at every premium position. But its hard to trust Poles after trying to sign Ogunjobi to 13 mil a year last year and signing a LB for 18 mil this year. Those aren't great value adds at premium positions.
