As of right now I dont think the C or RT spot are acceptable gambles. A lot could change, but I also wont feel they are acceptable if the Bears draft PJJ at 9. Im willing to sit through Poles throwing a bunch of mid round picks at the DL and seeing what/who sticks for a season or two, im not willing to do the same with the position most responsible for protecting Fields health. In my mind the one thing that HAS to be addressed, even if it costs an overpay of resources, is pass protection for the QB. He already has a playstyle that likely puts him at a higher risk of injury, the Bears CANNOT be loosey goosey with his health if they want more than a few seasons of high level play. Theres a lot of offseason left, but if we roll into '24 with this OL i would consider that reckless. I thought Poles was reckless going into this year with the OL they did but he gambled and it seemed to pay off for a few guys - but that almost makes me more nervous because perhaps the right lesson wasnt learned.
