I'm surprised to see Smith as critical as he was since most other videos he has high praise for the player. Don't get me wrong, he still showed some love, but he also pointed out all the criticisms I've seen from watching Luther play in the SEC, but not brought up much.

Luther got a lot of praise just for being a 5 star WR at Missouri, but he was obviously a different player with the ball in his hands vs not in his hands. Not the best route runner and you won't find many receptions down the field where he created a lot of separation. He needed the ball fed to him around the LOS and he was elusive enough to make plays against medium to lower competition. As Smith alluded to, it seemed like he was force fed the ball. And he was. Mizzou's head coach did everything he could to make Luther happy so he wouldn't transfer away after a year or two. So he made sure to scheme open plays in space for Luther and to give him some easy layup TDs when near the redzone.

I hope the best for the kid and would be glad to eat crow, but I never really cared for him in college. He was a decent player, but I always thought he was overrated. And now after listening to his 1st interview, I could envision him getting upset at a lack of opportunities in our offense. Ok, rant over.

Excellent take.

I think his best chances of seeing the ball will be via BJ scheming to get it to him with jet sweeps and passes near the LOS. His route running is a definite concern via everything I have read too. I believe Poles was shocked when Henderson went right before his pick. I personally would have gone DE at that point vs WR3.

Burden as your #1 or 2 WR is a bad idea.

Burden as your WR 3, gadget play guy…… is going to be fun as fuk.

If BJ is half the play caller we think he is this will be an inspired selection.

I imagine Burden gets a shot at KR/PR and then on offense does a lot of the stuff Bears had Moore do in terms of the short game including running the ball on occasion. That allows Moore to feature more in the intermediate zones.

This. Can only cover so many guys for so long. The mismatches that will be created with Burden and Loveland could be amazing. No LBer in the world is staying with them.

This will be a good test for the staff. I think all will benefit from BJ being both positive and demanding along with his apparent aptitude. I don't think being #1, 2 or 3 matters if the guy can be coached. There will also cone a realization that he's not at a higher level that the guys next to him like college.

They all need to to know that everyone benefits from following assignments.

DJ has been sloppy without the ball and nobody's complaining. He'll get better under Johnson as well and it could get scary good on O pretty quickly.

He did stuff with Amon ra and Williams every game so it’s safe to say we should expect the same this season with Moore, burden, odunze.

Talented dudes everywhere you look on offense. I can’t wait to see it in action.

What’s concerning and shocking? I didn’t watch the video
Sounds like there's some character issues on the field with things like only playing hard if he's not getting the ball. They were saying things like he doesn't run his routes or doesn't run hard like he could do if he's was into it. The shocking part i meant was that Poles drafted him with having character issues.

He's an athlete who you have to scheme to get the ball to, and something like 80% of his college targets were less than 10 yards. IMO those types of players struggle to do well in the NFL until they can win down the field more consistently. I've seen Deebo comparisons, I'd say Deebo was stronger and more polished at this point, but there are similarities.

He is talented, but really not much of a route runner. Runs mostly to space in the videos. Lazy breaks and meh technique catching the ball, although obviously talented and good hands and very athletic. Bit of a boom bust imo, and hopefully has a good attitude (lots of mouths to feed right now and he's probably not going to be at the top of the pecking order) although there seems to be some question about that in his review.

I don't see Burden as anything like St Brown.

Randle El is going to coach the piss out of him and really push him to be the best version of himself. If that happens, that’ll be terrifying for the rest of the league.

Depending on what we do at RB, I can see Burden getting 3-5 carries if he comes in with the right attitude.

Well the good thing is he will have to bust his ass for playing time on this team and the Bears have a great position coach for him too.
