There was a rumor that the Lakers were looking at Hinrich in return for Farmer, Powell, and Morrison. I think such a deal would have been the final piece for a title run for L.A. Then again, keeping Ariza would have been the final piece as well.

Ariza demanded too much money.

I'm sorry, but I just don't buy all the Ariza "hype", even if it is only a small amount. Same with Turkoglu. To an extent, the NBA playoffs are the same as the NCAA tournament. Everyone is watching, including front-office execs, and if a marginal player performs well, suddenly, their stock goes up. Turkoglu is a good player, but he was even better when playing with Howard, Nelson, and Lewis. Now he's gonna rot in Toronto, by himself, because I'm sure Bosh won't re-sign.

Glad to see some other people here have the sense that Rose/Wade won't work together.

Neither has a three point shot so a lineup of Rose-Wade-Deng-Gibson-Noah is just awful. No perimeter play whatsoever. Teams could run a 2-3 and just kill the Bulls defensively. They wouldn't be able to dish it to anyone.

Give me:

Pipedream but let me dream... 1) LeBron James
or
2) Chris Bosh
or
3) Amare Stoudamire
or worst case
4) Joe Johnson

I'd be really happy with Joe Johnson and David Lee in Bulls uniforms next season.

Rose - Johnson - Deng - Lee - Noah

Hinrich - Gibson - Johnson

Then sign a solid role playing guard and a cheap "defend first" type PF/C combo with any extra money we may have left.

It'd be impossible to get both of them. The money is simply not there.

It's basically one max guy + 1-year mid level (MLE)

Johnson already stated he wants a max deal, and I somehow doubt David Lee is willing to take a 1 year deal at $7 million.

Wishful thinking, I suppose...

Joe Johnson is worth a max contract, though.

I don't know if he is. He's not all that young.

I love Joe Johnson, don't get me wrong, but I'm not sure he's a max guy.

Joe Johnson is NOT a max contract player.

I think im the only one of my friends who follow Chicago Sports that doesnt want Lebron next year...

I just think he is too much of a princess, even though he is a damn good player! I just dont want him on our team.

If I was GM, I would work out a sign and trade with either PHX or TOR to get either Bosh or Amare (Deng, and some other pieces)
Then, go and sign Joe Johnson

Rose
Johnson
Cheaper FA
Bosh/Amare
Noah

I'm sure Toronto loves the prospects of trading Chris Bosh for Luol Deng...

Get real. You also have to trade equal money in the NBA so you'd have to do a sign and trade of Chris Bosh for Luol Deng and Kirk Hinrich. I'd venture to guess the Raptors are not really down trading $20 million in cap space for Deng/Hinrich.

Also they have a salary cap, Johnson is a max deal as is Bosh/Amare... AND you're adding a cheaper FA.

I don't think Reinsdorf really wants to pay $70 million in luxury tax next year.

Yeah it's all good. The NBA salary cap is a mess and I think in the next CBA it's going to get some major revisions.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NBA_Salary_Cap is a good resource as well as play around on the NBA Trade Machine on ESPN or TradeChecker on RealGM.com.

It has a ton of really odd things and is nearly impossible to get a complete handle on.

I think the Bulls aren't gonna get a superstar, to be honest. I think they could get a few upper level players though. Like I said, I'd be thrilled to get David Lee/Boozer.

Think Shannon Brown will take his player option with LA? I think he'll decline and test.

There are two ways the Bulls could go. They either go all out on a max contract wing player (LeBron, Wade, etc...) and fill the front court with rebounders and defenders. The other option would to get a scoring forward (Bosh, Boozer, Lee, Stoudamire, etc...) and give a more balanced look...

I think we are a dominant low post scorer away from being REAL good....

A lineup of Rose - Hinrich - Deng - (Bosh, Boozer, Stoudamire, etc..) - Noah could easily compete with any team in the league...
