You have provided nothing but speculation. No "inflated" stats at all. And you're claiming things are happening in games that I don't see. Provided I'm not staring down the middle linebacker every play, but Shea doesn't stand out as a problem in my eyes at all. And I'm sure I would notice him getting constantly trucked and ran over.

Watch better...

His stats are meaningless to me. What i see on the field is all that matters. I see an improving player that makes the defense better. Nothing else matters.

I just want out linebackers to make impact plays. They don't have to be Lance Briggs and Brian Urlacher just be better than guys you'd cut if there were better players on the team. McClellin was the best turd in the toilet and that's it. The entire ILB rotation is garbage and he's the best out of them.

See... ANd when I watch him, I see a back-up worthy, relatively mediocre, LB who can't play pass coverage at all, is repeatedly targeted as a weak point, hits the hole late, and is repeatedly trucked and dragged.

But, then again, I am looking for a talented team that wins - while some of you are just happy when one guy on the team doesn't suck as much as the other guys around him.

You should break your tv. No more Shea.

I'm all for upgrading every position. I agree he hasn't been great, but he isnt that bad either. I think he has some upside so why not route for the guy?

http://www.dabearsbeat.com/2015/10/15/a-closer-look-at-shea-mcclellin/

^^ The short of that data is he's nothing more than a solid backup.

You mean my eyes and what I've seen are now backed up by facts and data? You mean to tell me Shea McClellin isn't making plays at and around the line of scrimmage?

Why am I not shocked by this?

Oh but he knows how to line everyone up properly. Yeah likely because McClellin is one of the few linebackers left from the beginning of the OTAs and mini-camp left on the roster. Why would you trust a rookie UDFA to come in and be the QB of the defense, there's literally no one else to trust to run the defense because no one else has been around to learn it.

It's a line of UDFAs and then McClellin, a guy who simply isn't making plays but for some reason is receiving adoration by Bears fans.

Did you mean "root"?

And as I have said a couple hundred times on here: Every single time a player steps on the field in a Bears uniform, I want him (root for him) to be the best damn player in the NFL at his position.

Doesn't mean he will be. And doesn't mean that after the fact, I'm not allowed to be critical. I'm sorry I'm not the "participation trophy" type.

I want better than "kinda crappy" players on this team. But then again, I'm for winning games. Why aren't you guys?

Surprises:

Shea- same reasons as everyone else.

Amos- how often to 5th round picks turn into solid players...and in their 1st year

Jenkins- has looked much more like a solid starter than a rotational guy.

WR crew outside of Alshon/Royal: We all knew what the first two guys would bring to the table, but the other guys have shown the capability to be solid rotational guys...especially Wilson.

Disappointments:

Fuller and Ball: I was expecting both to play much better than they have. The defense has looked much better even without them playing well.

Christian Jones: this one is a more personal disappointment. I thought he was gonna be much better than he has been.

Intriguing:

Long: I'm intrigued with his position status going forward. Will he slide back to guard next season? Will be continue to improve at RT and be dominant there? Will he move to LT next season? All legitimate questions...

Kevin White: Could make this receiving core insane

Cutler: Lots of different scenarios here...Seems to mesh well with Gase. Could he be back simply to groom a rookie? Will the Bears keep him because he plays well the the rest of the way and they don't fee the need to draft his replacement yet?

The problem with that data is the fact that OGs could be getting to the lber level easier against our dline than others. While I'm not defending Shea, those stats can be very misleading. My eyes suggest you're right but we also looked worse without him. So take that into consideration. Shea might be playing tentative because he's scared to make a mistake and end his career as a starter. But we're better with him atm than without him. Nothing more than that.

I have no problem with your view of him. I am just giving my opinion.

I think he is better than "kinda crappy" I think he is kinda good. To each their own.

And i say route damn it.

Being surprised by his play equals adoration?

We play better with him than without and i adore playing better.

Funny, i see what you guys see but i also see us play worse when he's out. Nothing more, nothing less. I hope we upgrade in the offseason but wouldn't be surprised if he's re-signed and it's Jones who losses his spot starting.
