Team CCS, Sounds like a plan!

Well we made it to Tarpon Springs. We saw another couple pods of dolphins and then I navigated my first river a few miles upstream to where we’re going to have service done. I completed my second docking without an instructor onboard with zero damage to the boat or crew.

On another note, eveyone calls it a yacht but me. That just sounds wierd.

I just bought a helicopter and I am recruiting CCS brethren to train with me to become an elite strike team.

We will launch from SERE's boat and rid the world of evil, then meet SERE for beers after.
Need a K-9 for the team?

This is awesome! Thanks for sharing. How do you plan to make money with it? Charters?
I like the cut of your jib and beware the reefy tackle!

Damnnn, that boat had to set you back a penny or 2. Looks like a super mega adventure ahead. Make sure to take some vitamin C, don't want you and your peeps getting scurvy and shit.

First of all I spent a day at Walla Walla maximum security prison and there is no way on earth Im ever going to prison so square groupers are out!

Second, any income would supplement my military retirement so I would not be looking for a full time gig. Two years should give me enough time to be comfortable and competent along with the hours required for the USCG 6 pack. From there we can charter ours or crew others charter boats. Honestly though I have been in adult education for over 20 years and could see me teaching Sailing as well.

There are options including selling the boat and returning to land if we tire of it all.

Me too, thanks but it should be Sandy Bottoms.

Sand is the best place to put your anchor and we want sand on our asses too so it works two ways.

Living your dream. Congrats to you!!

Since you are water mobile, look in to setting up some part-time land/home in Ecuador if you want a really cheap COL resting place, short or long term. Or set up shop in Costa Rica if you want to stay in Caribbean waters full time. While the touristy/expat areas in Costa Rica are inflated some, plenty are doable on a military pension IMO. Other parts of Costa Rica are still cheap.

If you want to supplement your pension with that part time gig, you could also set up, market and emphasize an ENGLISH SPEAKING sailing class/charter in those countries and cater to expats/tourists during certain seasons.

We got the boat into the boatyard for some updates and repairs. The sail from Tampa Bay up the coast to Tarpon Springs was about 7 hours, within sight of shore, and mostly uneventful except for the 4 different pods of Dolphins that we spotted. Only one pod really came to say hi and swam in and out of our bows. The last few miles were all up river and we docked without wrecking, which is nice.
