again, mostly because i'm extremely biased towards him because he's my favorite cub player, but i think he has tons of potential. i think he's the left handed bat the cubs need. when he does reach his peak, colvin will probably be a solid .300 hitter with 20 homeruns and 50+ rbi's depending on where he is in the order.

I hate to say this, but Lou is absoutley right here. What else can you do when you have 5 major league outfielders? I mean, you can't play all five, so you have to have a rotation which it seems like he is doing that.

If anything, I would blame the Cubs Orginization for this. Tyler Colvin should either be starting every day, or he should be in AAA until you have room for him to start every day.

With the way Colvin hit the ball in spring traning, you obviously need to start him. Therefore, why not try and trade Fukudome or someone like that? Marlon Byrd isn't going to be traded, either is Soriano. Therefore it's either Fukudome, or someone along those lines.

C: Soto
1B: Lee
2B: Theriot
3B: Aram (When healthy)
SS: Castro
LF: Soriano
CF: Byrd
RF: Colvin

That right there is a VERY good lineup. But one thing is for certain, you either need to start Colvin every day, or send him back to AAA so he can continue to develop.

Jim Hendry is stupid and waited to long to trade Kosuke as he keeps dropping and dropping. Colvin should stast over Kosuke but Lou plays his vets over younger players which is bad.

precisely. and this veteran team isn't going to get us anywhere, so we've got to go younger.

Seriously, why even play a 33 year old Right Fielder, when your team is struggling, and probably won't go anywhere this season, when you have a 24 year old Right Fielder who is ready to play now, and has better stats then Kouske.

Kosuke: .278 AVG, 6 HR, 23 RBI, .372 OBP, .456 SLG (169 AB)
Colvin: .298 AVG, 6 HR, 16 HR, .358 OBP, .596 SLG (94 AB)

I mean, it's not that hard of a decision. Start Colvin, trade Kosuke, then have Nady be your backup OF'er.

Then just bench him and start Colvin. Colvin either needs to play everyday (starting) or he needs to go to AAA and play everyday. Rotting on the bench isn't going to develop him.

Pinella plays his vets over younger player, that is why he needs to do. I did bring up Colvin should go to AAA to get work everyday but that won't happen either.

I would trade Kosuke for nothing if they take on his whole contract. Which won't happen, lol.

because we're paying he and so many others obscene amounts of money for mediocrity.

You guys are forgetting that we can't just trade Kosuke. He has a no trade clause.

Full disclosure: I'm one of these guys who's "riding" Colvin's nuts right now. I think Colvin needs to be in the lineup everyday whether that means in RF, CF, or LF.

He has almost as much production as Kosuke in a fraction of the at bats. And yeah, I get it, Fukudome has a good onbase%. So rotate him with Soriano and Byrd, and give them days off especially if they are in a slump.

And leave Nady out of this convo in terms of being the 5th outfielder. Colvin deserves it over the 1 arm wonder. Unless Nady can gun someone out with no limits then he should be reserved to backup 1B and or pinch hitter.

i disagree. i think we should just keep him in right and let him get comfortable. but if him playing left gives him a start, then put him in left.

Ummm...Marlon Byrd is second in the NL in Runs Above Replacement, he shouldn't be getting days off unless he REALLY needs one, and even then it should be a tough decision.

Byrd and his WAR can stay in the lineup. But regardless Colvin should be getting more pt than what he's getting currently. There's no excuse. The kid should either be in AAA playing everyday or getting more than 2 starts/month in Chicago.
