No fucking way. He gave a half ass effort last year. remember the Packers game, Monty would have had a long TD run if Arob would have attempted to block the one defender in the way. I don't care how unhappy you are, you give it your all on the field

I think that was fields, no? Down the left sideline

If I were fields, I would go up to arob and get in his face after that. Unacceptable. I was a big arob guy, think he has a world of talent, but he is not what we need on this team.

Guys like Monty/Mooney/Kmet might not have the talent he does but care about winning. Seems like arob only cares about himself.

its not easy to justify tagging him with the salary cap situation as it is and his inability to give a shit last year.

Throwing good money after bad isn't really plausible.

Mailed it in, not explosive, and a poor blocker. Likely to command 15-20 mil per.

Go get Gage at about 10 mil per year and a 3rd tier guy. Draft a WR in the 2nd and maybe one later. Hopefully there’s good opportunity to trade down. I’d be very interested in shopping Mack as well for more picks. Not going to fix everything this year, but fix the OL, get some explosive receivers, and then look to go all in the year after.

I would draft one at 39, and another in the 3rd, especially if Bell falls. Sign chark and o-line. Play bums at safety and corner and linebacker this year and use next years free agent dollars to throw at those problems. I’d rather permanently plug a few holes this year and be not a good team overall, and use money next year to plug the rest than try to moderately plug all holes in one off season.

I think you’ll be surprised at what the market is this year. He’s young and has the potential to be a 1k yard receiver. Very good at jump balls and contested catches and is very good in space. He had 770 yards last year in 14 games.

A lot of the WRs are going to get way overpaid and the bears need play makers. If he only costs 10, do it. He’s young and still hasn’t hit his peak. It’s all about GTD money anyway. He was a stud 2nd half of the season.

Then draft Pickens in the 2nd/3rd. Mooney, Gage, and Pickens will be problems for defenses. A lot of speed and guys who can make plays all with a lot of potential

If that’s the market then draft two WRs. That’s just stupid money.

I think he actually has value to us as a FA we lost. Hope he can sign a nice big fat contract with another team and then he helps land us some compensatory picks.

That is actual a good reason to let him walk.

With only Mooney under contract? They have virtually no money invested into the WR position. 8-10 mil for someone like Gage is nothing when assessing $$$ allocation for the group. Especially if the GTDs are friendly. They absolutely need to sign guys

You can sign guys later that don’t affect the comp pick formula. A guy like Gage doesn’t get you closer to a Super Bowl and ends up costing you a comp pick next year. I absolutely hate the idea of spending that much money for him.

Draft a couple guys. Sign a couple vets that are cuts or post draft free agents. Spending big money on a guy like Gage who only has stats because he got volume with no other WRs on the team is dumb. He’s a #3 or #4 guy at best. Horrible player to spend money on.

Disagree. He’s a low end #2 at best, a very good #3 at worst.

I don’t buy what you’re selling about his volume. He had 94 targets/66 receptions for 770 yds/4 TDs and caught 70% of his passes.

In contrast, Mooney had 140 targets/81 receptions for 1055 yards/4 TDs and caught 62% of his passes

If Gage only got numbers due to volume, then you’d have to say the same about Mooney. Would you not pay Mooney 8-10 mil a year? The only difference is Mooney played 3 more games than Gage.
