Yes, the Tebowie skit was quite witty. We were talking about the kid in another section of the boards and I admitted my bias towards him. He is from my town, and went to the same college I went to. I don't care if he ever becomes an elite NFL quarterback or not, he is just a good kid; plain and simple. There are worse role models out there.

Interesting article:

There was a poll on espn or something, 45% of voters actually felt there is divine intervention on behalf of Tebow.

Tebow is certainly a better representative to his former school and the league then the last NFL-er from my alma matter (*cough*, Sam Hurd, *cough*). If I was editor of that article though I would have left out about the part about how he has the visiting family walk him to his car after the games. I don't blame Tebow as much for the distraction as ESPN though so I can't help but see it as ESPN fueling it's largely self created mania.

I must admit, when the Steelers lost I was happy. Kick the Patsies out and I'll have to root for this kid all the way. I have always loved a QB with guts to do things most QBs don't... I wonder how John Elway thinks of Tebow now after the comments he made about him during the season, lol.

And as for the whole religious thing, who cares? He's got a good head on his shoulders and he defines what a role model should be.

So what if he is religious, he seems like a good guy and a good player and I would rather have someone like him as my quarterback than Ex con Michael Vick or that Pittsburgh guy accused of sexual assault or that total POS Tom Brady.

I don't need a good boy to be my QB, I just need my team to win. I'm not looking for the morally right guy when I watch pro sports and I will not knock the morally right guy either when watching pro sports. I can except the Jesus freak and I can except the ex-con, it really doesnt matter...just fuckn entertain me!

Here's one thing I can't stand about Tim Tebow:

I don't go to work and preach, out of respect to those around me. This guy is a QB, keep that stuff in your private life or become a priest--keep it out of the public eye and very few would have a bad opinion of him.

I see what you are saying here, but that's who he is. He IS a preacher, albeit not ordained at this point. His relationship with God is not private, nor does he want it to be. It isn't his fault that he happens to be an NFL quarterback that the media likes to stick a microphone in front of.

Hey it's a free country, he can do whatever he wants. I prefer someone who is humble and doesn't need to flaunt their religion every chance they get, to me that relationship is a private matter. It is just as annoying as anyone who goes door-to-door as a Jehovah's Witness.

In a world that has famine, killing, economic collapse, extinction of species, terrorism.... and God puts that aside to help Tim Tebow win a football game? That line of thought is lunacy and not to mention completely selfish, arrogant and egotistical on behalf of Tebow to flaunt his beliefs as the sole reason his team wins. In the bible, people are to do God's will, they do not pray for their own personal gains but pray for strength to complete Gods mission.

The fact is, this country is primarily Christian, so it's OK. Imagine if Tebow was Islamic or Taoist or Hindu or Atheist... the reaction would be much different.

Not sure where you got the idea that Tebow says the Broncos win because it is God's will. There may be some lunatics in the world who believe that, but Tebow has never said that. The only thing Tebow "flaunts" and gives credit for the wins is the team around him and their ability to stick together through adversity. He thanks God for being in the position that he is in, and the raw ability he has been given.

We must be listening to two different Tim Tebows then, because that is not the impression I get from him. Also, I never said that Tebow says it is "Gods will"... I said that you are not suppose to pray for your own personal gains according to biblical stories.

With that said, I still think he is a good person, but sometimes the way he goes about things upsets me.

With ya Jax. I have never listened to many interviews but I doubt he is saying that there is divine intervention. It is my opinion that folks of this ilk believe it is their faith that gives them the mental strength and fortitude to believe that they can achieve great things and overcome adversity. Tim, seems like the perfect case. Good for him, I wish I where more spiritual, I could use the internal strength at times.

Tom Brady is not a total POS.

Neither is Peyton Manning. There are plenty of good kids in the NFL. Usually you have to get in trouble to get the kind of coverage Tebow is getting.

Tebow certainly seems to be a better man then most of those who are the naysayers.

I'm not going to pretend like I don't think he is over-exposed. He is. Is that his fault? I am usually the person that hates something just because everyone else likes it. In the case of Tebow, the critics are giving him exposure just as much as those who sing his praises.

This is Jesus Christ to Tim Tebow, "please leave me alone."

Amen!

Saw a news story on this idiotic mania, and at the end of the story the reporter gushed, "Everybody is tebowing."

I looked at my wife and said, "No, assholes are tebowing."

I have to chuckle when I hear others are so offended by Tebow.

It really is amusing to see them get so worked up.
