Tebow played through injuries in playoff loss

Tribune News Services

9:56 a.m. CST, January 18, 2012

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — Tim Tebow is expected to make a full recovery, without surgery, from rib, lung and chest injuries he sustained in the Denver Broncos' loss at New England in an AFC divisional playoff game last weekend.

ESPN first reported Wednesday that Tebow got hurt on a third-quarter tackle during Denver's 45-10 loss, then had trouble sleeping because of the pain and underwent an MRI on his chest Monday.

Team spokesman Patrick Smyth said that while he couldn't confirm the exact extent or nature of the injuries due to team policy, he acknowledged that Tebow finished the game in considerable pain.

Backup Brady Quinn got ready after Tebow was hit by Vince Wilfork and Rob Ninkovich, but Tebow stayed in.

The injuries aren't expected to interfere with Tebow's offseason training program.

WOW, imagine that, ESPN was johnny on the spot. Guess what... all QBs play with injuries. Rapelesberger was on one foot, Brees landed on his head several times, Eli or Brady has a hand thing or something I believe. Took a while to get these injuries out there? Were they afriad people had forgotten about him so far, or are they just trying to set up this weeks storyline of "How far could he have gone if he wasn't injured" Moot point really it was already like 45-10 when he was injured. So I guess I'm just being picky, I just don't see the point of the story at this time.

And of course as I check ESPN it is the top headline on the side bar complete with full story from a "source" and a video to boot. This is getting dumber every day.

Here's one thing I can't stand about Tim Tebow:

I don't go to work and preach, out of respect to those around me. This guy is a QB, keep that stuff in your private life or become a priest--keep it out of the public eye and very few would have a bad opinion of him.

Do you mean that for every DB who points to the sky after an interception? or every WR when he scores a TD? or for every DL after a QB sack?

Don't blame Tebow for this mess. Look right down the camera lens to the producer and director of the telecast. There the one's showing him over and over and over again.

Did Kurt Warner, or does Drew Brees walk around genuflecting every chance they get?

It's evangelizing and a LOT of people in this country don't appreciate it.

Facts to back this up? Didn't think so.

Ultimately, it comes back to BSPN and their incessant highlighting of the individual over the team. Once they started highlighting the celebrations, it was merely a case of follow the leader.

I always tell the kids I coach when they ask me if it's ok to celebrate. (borrowed from Lou Holtz)

"You can celebrate after scoring a goal any time you want. BUT make sure you also celebrate when you you make a bad pass that ends up with a break away for the other team and they score." Works every time.

He's a flash in the pan. Don't blame the NFL and Espn etc for hanging on the kid. It was getting somewhat repetative the stories involving guys who like to change their names on the back of their jerseys and talk about their pimps and ho's. Tebow just gave the league and the media something new. But it's a flash in the pan. Next season there will be a new flavor of the month and the Tebow will be forgotten. Probably for the good of all and also for the good of his football career.

Good marketing also. Those who hate him want to watch him get destroyed on the field. Those who love him want to watch him succeed. It was a win win for the NFL and for Denver. He sort of has been used in a sense.

No it wasn't a win for Denver unless he gets better in ways QBs don't usually get better in.

I bet the Broncos made a fortune off him this season. I am sure the owners of the Broncos aren't displeased.

That's what I ment. $$$$$

Why did Jesus let him get injured in the first place? Though leading the Broncos to the Super Bowl while playing with multiple compound fractures would have made it even more glorius!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
