To be fair its not certain its a terrorist attack and all news outlets are being very careful not to call it that.

That being said... it seems highly likely that it was terrorist related.

Last I had seen on the news, there was no confirmed reason for the blast whether a "terrorist attack" or a gas explosion.

**** you Stu....beat me to it.

Hmm... shots have now been fired at a childrens summer camp in norway...

Norwegian media has confirmed it was a bomb and that youth camp is being held at an island near Oslo and is being run by the Prime Minister's political party.

EDIT: Major explosions followed by secondary incidents are a common calling card of Al-Q.

I just walked by a TV in the hallways here at work and a certain American news network...cough cough...Fixed News...was claiming it is a terrorist attack and trying to make the leap that it is probably Arab extremists behind it.

Nice, back to making up the news for sensational purposes. Rupert...you took no notes at parliaments grilling, huh?

To be fair, it was based on this report from Paul's link:

Peter Beaumont, foreign affairs editor at the Observer, says a jihadist group is most likely to be behind the blast:

Very responsible reporting by all, indeed! Meanwhile, they haven't actually confirmed the source of the explosions.

Helpers of Global Jihad sounds like such a friendly organization. I imagine them looking like santas elves, building little bombs and what not, how cute.

This was a terrorist attack. While the threat of terrorism is overblown it is there. Apparently a Iraqi born radical cleric who was living in exile in Norway is being deported from Norway and he issued threats that his followers would react to his deportation after being charged with terrorism. The coordination of the attacks a bombing and a shooting spree within an hour in a country with almost no violence, indicates it was a terror attack.

I work in the friggin intelligence community sth...thanks for the lesson though. My point is: don't count your chickens before they hatch, let the authorities figure this out, and don't ever take something as fact when it comes from a reporter then gets passed around via the rapid fire, telephone game of modern media. If the government of Norway or an international organization like Interpol investigates the matter and then blames those folks, great, I will take their word for it.

Yeah I know. I was just saying why I think it is an attack by Islamists. I mean look at OKC Bombing everyone thought that was a foreign and it turned out to be a white guy from Kansas. I would never question your expertise.

Seeing attacks like this just further promotes the reasoning of why we need to take these scumbags on and our time in the Middle East will be addressed in decades not years IMO.

If this ends up being a Muslim backed attack we should further reign hell upon them.

Norway, really???!!!

And can we take something as fact from an intelligence agency? Cause golly gee, they'd never make anything up.

Nope sure cant. Because anything that comes from the Gov't, whether from the intel sector, the military or any other agency it's all just lies that they'll use to start another baseless war.

Shit forgot the smartass purple

the point pete was making was, until there is something to absolutely tie it to a terrorist group, let's not jump to conclusions. At the time the explosions were first reported, no one knew, and unless things have changed, no one knows.
