I have faith that Hawks will turn it around proper after the break and secure that playoff spot. They got too much pride and know how to win to let it slip away. I am 100% sure that every guy in the room knows what is expected of them and they also know they can do it. Even if they struggle, they have the will and talent to turn it around. And once they are in the playoffs, it's all up for grabs from there on out.

If I were any other team in the NHL hoping to make the playoffs the Hawks are most definitely one of those teams I'd hate to face. Home ice or no home ice.

They need to come out after this break making a statement. The division is still not out of question by any means.

...and the situation may not be so dire after the break.

Not looking at all the other schedules, I figure in our break, ony three teams have the opportunity to leapfrog us to come even with games in hand: Colorado, Los Angeles, and St. Louis--and St. Louis would tie us in points if they win all three games in hand at this point. Colorado ties us in points with one win, LA would need two wins and an OTL to tie us in points.

THEN, you figure that we've averaged 1.128 points (Standings poits) per game, Colorado has averaged 1.151, LA has averaged 1.114, and St Louis has averaged 1.081. I figure doing the math, even if we lose all three spots, we should be able to make up enough ground.

Just some food for thought.

Seems like we've been waiting all year for a third period like that, doesn't it? Finally they come through for us.

Pretty damn good game, but I need to chime in on something that's been bothering me. Stalberg just seems to be getting worse, doesn't he? That third goal was almost entirely his fault. He has to get out on the shooter in that situation. He just stood there doing nothing... He was abysmal all game long in our zone, and has been that way for a couple weeks now. At what point does he get benched, like Dowell, and Skille have been? Yeah, yeah, bad luck, he should have a few more goals, whatever. He still sucks in our zone and costs us goals. Worst forward in our zone by far. At this point, I think he's the first guy you move if you get the chance, if he even has any value. We wouldn't miss his 8-9 minutes a game, that's for sure.

That 3rd goal was a clear pick set by the Preds off a face off win.

Thanks for the breakdown.

I figured by the all-star break we'd have an idea of where the Hawks would be.

Need five out of the next six points, that's for sure.
