And the first two goals... no goalie in the NHL would be able to stop those deflections.

It seemed a lot of shots on Emery - were tips, high deflections, high screens...rolling pucks...nothing "crisp" - which has to be hard. First 2...nothing he could do.

I thought he played fine/is what he is.

Good to see the Hawks hold a 3rd period lead this year.

Leddy is impressing the hell out of me. He looked beat one play ...and his foot speed was outstanding to catch a guy and ride him to the corner.

I'm not disappointed in Montador...because he is what he is/expected. Was nice to see him "go after" Buff after a whistle. As well as his hit on Kane (albeit a penalty). Last year, not sure the Hawks had a Dman to do either of those things. But he's a +2 after 3 games....if he can stay a plus player all year/by the end...stay physical like that...then he's doing what he's capable/his role is.

I think Kruger looks good/has a home on that 4th line. He's good/sound defensively and I like his plays around the net/boards/corners in both zones. He's not going to light up a scoreboard, but he's a scrapper and lives in the dirty areas (and hell, anyone that'll lay down in front of a Souray shot, is good in my books).

Olesz.....eh, whatever. I think he'll be a buyout player at the end of this year/next summer -

Rostislav Olesz buyout from CapGeek.com
  • 2012-13: $500,000
  • 2013-14: $250,000
  • 2014-15: $1,375,000
  • 2015-16: $1,375,000

Watched the replay of the game this morning before a client meeting. Did anyone else hear Foley call Kane's goal a tap in? What the **** is that guy actually watching during the hockey game, and why is he still here? That was an unreal rocket of a one timer and he calls it a tap in.

Because at every opportunity he sucks McDs **** and talks about how glorious it is to be able to watch games on TV.

Tap in.. Dumb ****. Tapped it in so hard he knocked him self on the ice.

Foley sucks. He was once good but that ended at some point while he was calling Wolves games.

Had a blast at the game last night. Makes a change not being in a half empty building this time and and anthem was incredible to witness. Thought Ray made some great saves in the third but would need to see the other goals again before I make judgment, worryingly though a better team would have punished the Hawks d tonight.Wish I wasn't going home tomorrow and could catch the Boston game, just hope it won't be another five years before I'm back (or another game in Europe would be nice)

People think I'm nuts for wanting Weiderman/Murray to call the TV games. I hear a lot of similarity between their overall styles, but at least Weiderman leaves a lot of the schtick out of it and calls the game. I can deal with "stop it right there". I can deal with "For all you young hockey players". But the "Tree Tirty Tree in the Turd" has got to go. Just call the bloody game and rip on Karpotsev.

Foley stopped being good when they went to different guys for TV and radio. When they were simulcast, Foley actually had to pay attention to the game in order to describe it to the radio audience. Now he seems to feel as though his TV audience members can fend for themselves while he waxes poetic about Diana Olczyk's freaking chocolate chip cookies. I am so sick and tired of him and Eddie laughing all game long. Gah.

As for the game, I agree with RK, the Hawks looked like they hadn't played in a while at the beginning of a season. Emery was okay and he'll get better. The Kane/Hossa/Carcillo line was fun to watch, and I love the way Kruger plays. I've been wondering who will be sent down when both Smith and Stalberg are healthy and I'm hoping it won't be Kruger, but I'm fairly sure it will be.

Looking forward to tomorrow's game against the Bruins.

I know the value Bruno provides, but wow. That dude does not look like a professional hockey player with that skating. WTF?

With that said, he's got hands and knows where to be and when to be there.

I love having real personalities call the game, just as well be on ESPN if you want the straight guy stuff.

Wiedeman has a personality. Is a great guy on and off the ice. Foley you can't really say that. Infact he was an asshole long ago which is one of the reasons he ended up in Rosemont.

The fans wanted him back. But the fans did not know how far down the shit hole his quality had gotten. Personality or stupidity? Which do you want? Both?

Weiderman/Murray I think are a perfect tandem to call the games. They stay on the focus of the game, players, and usually only use stoppages of play to go onto background information on a player/coach that was recently sifgnificant. They call the game concisely and quickly. They get excited when the action picks up and call their teams goals and plays with more enthusiasm, but they don't overly dereide the other team for good play on their part.

Honestly, being so far out of the Chicago area for so many years I may be baised, though. The only good continuous coverage I've had of the blackhawks before sites such as HockeyStreams and Gamcelter Live was listening to Weiderman/Muray call the games on XM radio.

Besdies, Weiderman's intonation is similar to Foleys to my ears, so it's not like 'hawks fans would have switched to Jim Hughson.

I guess whatever you guys want...I watch the Hawks and don't necessarily tune in to hear what the broadcasters have to say. I have the ability to compartmentalize and focus on the game and not let trivial things bother me. So I respect you guys opinion and understand he is a problem for you guys.

And this is a forum....got to have something to talk about.

If you just listen to them for just a few minutes it becomes apparent that they are head and shoulders better than the two knuckleheads on the TV. Eddie can have some great moments breaking down a play when he's not busy texting or giggling with Pat, but Troy Murrays analysis is excellent.

I really like the Hawks' forward lineup if Q's able to stay with Bickell, Bolland and Frolik as a third line; implying, of course, that guys like Brunette and Carcillo stay productive enough to warrant top line status. Very few teams will be able to stack up with that kind of talent on a third line. They've already been able dominate several stretches during these first few games and could've easily scored more goals.

Emery didn't win me over with his performance, but hey, that's why we have Crawford.

Emery is the backup and we got a win while the backup played...win win, Corey got a night off and we won! Emery probably gets 20 starts and we need to survive 10 to 11 of those starts...1 down in survival mode.
