I don't think it's a blood bath you have to watch out for rather "cheap-dirty" plays. Both teams played last night. Sabres have lost four in a row, all at home. One of those coming from the Hawks.

I definitely think the Sabres will come in with a HUGE chip on their shoulders.

That chip can be as big as the city of Buffalo, but it won't mean much if they cannot forecheck. That seems to be a huge problem for them-- and the 1-0 loss the other night was deflating for them.

I agree with Eruns, there may be nothing happening at all, and you just may see a hockey game without incident.

Don't forget corporate sponsorhips, and tv ad revenue. Both will be huge increases this year. The corporate sponsorships is getting to be too much. If Honda announces tonite that the best time to take a Miller Lite wiz is between periods i would not be shocked. And all that is part of team profits, incl parking and concessions.

My favourite is announcing the "save of the game" 7 minutes into the 2nd.

Wideman said that was the save of the season (so far) on the radio last night.

Is there a stream for this? There is nothing listed on myp2p. NDSports was pretty good with streams last year, but this year they've been lacking. StoogeTV haven't had any, or then I haven't been able to find them.
Look for Hammer to be skating with his head up tonite. He may want to put some extra padding in his helmet. I don't expect goonery or Bertuzzery, but some extra hard hits and a lil scrum wouldn't be too surprising.

Side note on tix. I posted last nite I got some extras in the club level for tonite. Got no responses so i put them on CraigsList asking for sth face, $100. then i go to look at Craigslist and i see that there are several posting for below face in the Club Level. For a hugely popular team that just won the Stanley Cup! and a Saturday night game!! So the Hawks are actually charging over market value for their tickets. Kudos to Dollar Rockwell and McPimp.

and in a recent Hockey News magazine, there's a Hawks story and it talks about how the Hawks lost money last year. I just couldn't believe that magazine actually believed that bullshit, which was just put out in the media to justify price increases.

Well Forbes will release its numbers probably in first week of November. I'll predict a massive $25 mill profit (2d only to Toronto) and a large increase in franchise value mostly based on that.

Did you end up not selling them?

It's ridiculous really. A friend of the family works at the UC and can get tickets to games for us. Well, when I heard they were $100+ for 200 level seats, even for someone working there, I passed on them. These weren't exactly great seats either. **** that. Stanley Cup champs or not, I'm not paying $100+ for a ticket for a regular season game unless it's ice level. I have a feeling the market for anything outside of the 300 level is going to dry up pretty quickly. People just can't fucking afford those prices, especially in Chicago, with the unemployment rate what it is, and with the economy what it is.

I did sell them. What's also a little interesting about this is tix on Stubhub are cheaper cuz on the ticket exchange there is a minimum of face value. whereas on the Hub lots are under face. So the hawks are losing that revenue, but so what since they are selling out every game and tickets are overpriced.

I also noticed that they added two more bars in the 300 level. they knocked out some seats, but the money those things make more than justifies it. that's why they added two more.

5 power plays for the hawks today with 3 going in, because of stupidity of the Sabers players. 4-2 hawks

Tickets in the club level were over $100 last year before they won the cup, they're not that much higher now.

I actually prefer the club level to ice level, I like the view of the ice better.

It's not going to be a blood bath fest. Might be a few scrimmages here and there as everyone says.

What I am wondering is why is everyone saying Hammer and the Hawks have to skate with their heads up? Screw that noise. Sabers have to skate with THEIR heads up!! Lets get our priorities straight here people!! If Buffalo wants to start throwing their weight around to make a statement then the Hawks I am sure are 100% ready to do the same...and I don't need to remind anyone the Hawks are the bigger team.

Hell Hawks should be the team coming out hitting in this one. Make the statement right off the bat.

ENJOY!!!

No i think the scrimmage reference was because the opponent is the Sabres.

Agreed, the refs are going to be on this one like vultures... they know.
And with the Sabre's publicly calling for redemption, that doubles the refs looking for it. Hammer was suspended for two games, that is redemption enough...considering some of the cheap stuff that Sabre's did after Hammer's hit.

Completely agree about the view. And know where 5m4f are (same section as me, just a few rows behind), I really love how the view allows me to really see the plays develop.

Interestingly enough, the only game we cannot make it to (so far this season), is on 10/26 (CLS), and they sold for $100/ea the day we posted them. And, Sonny, the STH price went up $20/ticket this season in the 200 level prime seats.

As far as the StoogeTV issue, if you click on the justin.tv logo on Stooge03 or Stooge06 it takes you to the actual stream. I dunno why they did that.

The passwords are the same at least.

Here's the thing.

The Hawks won't play the Sabres for over a year possibly (unless we face them in a Stanley Cup final, which won't happen) after tonight.

Hammer WILL be challenged to fight, just as Cooke was challenged to fight after the Savard hit. If Hammer accepts, which he should as the Sabres have no one really to worry about since Peters left the team, he will have respected the code and all will be a wash.

If Hammer declines, then whom ever the Sabres "tough guy"/douchenozzle is for the night, will go after someone of more importance, whom I'm guessing will be Kane or Sharp.

Hammer might as well accept the challenge as he'll probably be approached by Kaleta, and I've seen girls who fight better then Kaleta, and let it go.

Yep, basically what I have been saying all day.

Troy was suggesting that maybe Hammer even go out and try to pick his fight aka try to get Stafford or Kaleta to go instead of getting beat on by someone with talent... if Buffalo even has anyone that can fight.

Who knows Rivet might be the guy to challenge Hammer. I really like a guy like Rivet and I think that has the possibility of even being a good fight.
