My problem with Scott last night was there was a time in the 3rd perioed where Bieksa had the puck behind our net and Scott had the perfect chance to just quash him and he didn't. If you arent going to hit, you can't skate backwards and only play 3 minutes, what purpose do you have?
hey, somebody has to sign autographs at the convention.

Back on topic....I thought that Turco actually got a piece of Samuelsson's shot and that's why it went wide in the SO. Or at least, when Turco tried to poke check it, he forced Samuelsson to go wide.

He was gassed. Barely had enough to get the shot off. You were at the game right?
I don't think he was gassed, like mentioned by Oly, he was trying to draw a penalty and was also trying to control the puck and did not realize how close he was getting. If he was gassed he would have totally missed the puck.

He was gassed. You could tell. Remember he was skating right towards me.

Per the Herald, per Hossa:

http://www.dailyherald.com/article/20101020/sports/101029930/

“I tried to get the puck settled because it was the end of the period and the puck kept rolling,” Hossa said. “When I settled it I was too far in front of him. I tried to shoot low blocker and it didn't work.”

Sources aren't saying if he was gassed or not....

End of the period and end of a long shift. Hossa was a mad man late in the game. One shift he danced in our end for what seemed like for ever. Was all over making amazing moves left and right. Had to be tired.

God that shift was a thing of beauty, i remember thinking to my self that he must have the puck on a string because it kept coming back to him... he is just always where the puck is.

Hmm, even with defined distances, lengths, it is too subjective. What is truly a break-away? How far to do you need to be from the opponents? What if the opponents catch up?

Fundamentally this is a time based sport and play/time is constant other than between whistles. When time expires, time is up. Just like it is in just about every other time based sport....

...I know that in Football if there is one second on the clock and a team runs a play the the play keeps going past the 1 second as long as the play is still active. But keep in mind the clock does not stop for each whistle, and unlike every other time based sport there is not constant play when time is running. It is more of a "move" based sport.

I really do not see a rule like that applying and being able to be called correctly as an extension of play in the NHL.
finally someone with some actuall prospective on how it might or might not work. I was also going to bring football in the picture and mention on how the team who snaps the ball then the clock runs out is still in motion untill it is stopped. Yes I can see how it might or might not work in the NHL. What I mentioned is not so far feted, and might be a reality in the future.

He most certainly was a beast, I don't think he ever gets tired, if anyone should be compared to Chuck Norris it should be Hossa, not Versteeg.

Chuck Norris once declined to fight with Hossa.

Is anyone concerned that 10 of our 17 (13 of 24 total) even strength goals are from Sharp and Hossa? Normally I would be but considering that they are two different lines, at different positions, I think it could be good maybe? 2 solid scoring lines, and scoring in a variety of ways. Thoughts? Maybe it's just too early to be focused on this... only 8 games in.
