Did Skille play the rest of the game after that hit from Coliacavo last night? Maybe Brophy is in for him instead?
Per Hawks Twitter: "Coach Q says Brophey is in tonight for Kopecky, who has a "short-term upper-body injury."

No prob... now we can start the speculation on why he's out and what exactly this mysterious temporary injury is.

Brophey is a center... could we see Sharp take Kopecky's spot on the top line?
If I remember correctly this was you last spring after a playoff loss and we'll never make it to the next round. :hand:
Yeah yeah, that was last season and I've ate my crow. And I wasn't the only one, but hindsight is always 20/20.

I wonder if Brouwer will get suspended for that one. Stupid move.

The ridiculous scheduling sure took its toll on this team, but what can you do. The 3 day break couldn't have come sooner (actually it could have). The Brouwer penalty was simply too much. Allowing 40 shots isn't helping either. The lack of Soupy is a factor, but IMO the whole team has looked slightly off, more so the last couple of games due to fatigue. Still a respectable record for this first stretch.

Penalty, yes.....major, no way. We got screwed.

Very disappointing loss....leading 2-0, and losing 3-2. If we'd brought the intensity we had during the last few minutes during the entire third period, we would have gotten at least a point.

That said, as has been stated, the team looks off. But I don't like the "so many games in so many days" excuse. Get over it. Good teams get through it. We'll see what we're made of....right now, we don't look good.

well it was looking good until the 3rd. Def had some tired legs but gotta say the brouwer penalty really got the slide going. Was def a bad hit. Gotta say Brouwers been a tad bit of a disapointment so far this season. Really expected more from him out of the gate. Gotta get going Brouwer..and i am talking scoreboard here yes.

Depth scoring? Still waiting for it. These are the type of games where we need it. The top lines have been carrying the minutes through this rough schedule. If we don't get depth scoring soon I'm going to start flipping. whats going on.

random thoughts

1) do the Hawks have a third line? Just wondering

2) great game by Craw

3) Brouwer. You thought that hit was a good idea? Really?

4) Nothing surprising going on here. Stanley Cup hangover is real folks. My preseason forecast called for a slow start. Just ride it out.

5) Poor Nash has to play on that team. NBA is talking about contraction, why can't NHL?

6) I had heard Kopecky had the flu. Mmmmm. So then why doesn't Hossa have it?

7) Giants going to the world series! **** you Philly and your barbarian cavemen fans. (Yes i was in Philly in June for the finals, can't you tell?) Texas rednecks, your next. I be wearing my Giants gear tomorrow.

It wasn't a stupid hit. These guys don't know the rules anymore. They are constantly changing. It is a new rule that you shouldn't hit a guy like that. In the past it was totally normal for a pro to hit a guy in the back along the boards. It is not legal per the rules, and kids are instructed to never do it. But it went unpunished for a long long time in the NHL. Unless of course the guy gets hurt.

But now with the blindside hits rule things have changed. Teach the players the rules, stop tweaking them, and this kind of thing doesn't happen. Constantly change the expectations and fail to call the game per the rule book and you get this result...

Wow most of you guys need to take off the rose (blackhawks) colored glasses and wake up. You should read my post about the Defensive corps being the problem in the Blues game day thread from yesterday.

Cullimore, Scott, and Boynton are dragging this team DOWN DOWN DOWN. We were winning 2-0 against a lame, sorry ass BJs team and then Boynton is on the ice for three goals against. The third pairing of cement feet Scott and old man Cullisuck barely were allowed on the ice in the third. At least Q got that part right.

Scooter needs to do something about this. This has nothing to do with too many games in a row or tired legs. It has to do with Soup being out and having the bottom half of our D occupied by guys that have no business skating in this league.

This is what I was talking about in my last post in the Blues thread. Expect more of this. Until Soup comes back or Scooter gets some better people in the lineup that is. Leddy...Hendry...a trade...I don't care, I'm not the GM. But from my seats, I care more about this than the GM does right now, obviously!

No... I mean Brouwer, the guy who singlehandedly changed the momentum of the game with a stupid hit.
