Lehtonen stood on his head despite being peppered with shots. 22 in the secod period alone. Both teams had multiple chances. Goalie was the difference. LiKe Haviland said they need more people going to the net. I think tomorrows game will have a different outcome.

I'd just like to say, Konroyd is an idiot.

Yes, it sure would be nice to win tomorrow, err tonight (Saturday) but it is by no means a MUST WIN.

There are 80 more games to play after that one.

No need to jump off the ledge just yet.

Just curious if anyone knows the last time we won a game in Dallas cause I sure as hell can't remember. Thought the Hawks played a pretty good game, still would like to see more traffic in front of Lehtonen, and I was kind of disappointed at our newly acquired tough guys tonight. Ott was being his typical little puke self and taking runs at guys and I didn't see anyone even say a word to him.

That was what happened last year, Hawks lose games early in the season and it was "this is just the start, they have so and so many games left". Well, thanks to the lost games in the beginning the Hawks had a hard time making it to the playoffs. These points are as valuable as the ones in March-April.

They better establish a winning setting at home by burying the Stars. Lehtonen was the reason the Hawks didn't win and I doubt he'll have such a performance two games in a row.

Thought Q was messing with changing lines way too much, way too early, especially with Saad & Pirri in the lineup. Let some chemistry develop.

Talk about musical lines.

Q, knock it the **** off?

Saad-Toews-Kane, Brunette-Sharp-Hossa, Frolik-Bolland/Pirri-Bickell... Leave them the **** alone ding dong. Chemistry.

Q is going to shuffle the lines, he always does that no matter how much we ***** about it. He usually sticks to them once he has found something that works. Considering the Hawks had trouble scoring it was reasonable for him to try different combinations. Had he kept the same lines I am sure some of you would be bitching about why he didn't change them when they did not work.

Crawford made some big saves ... but looked pretty shaky with his glove hand

Hossa looked in beast mode but couldn't bury one

pretty much everything else was meh or bad - passing/catching, ring around boards in d-zone to opponent still appears to be a favorite play of our d-men, lose about 75% of board battles in d-zone, miss open nets or whiff on shots, PP cross crease pass play that everyone in the league knows is coming and defends ... other than that ... meh

Hossa was in beast mode? By being out of position on goal 1 and by taking an undisciplined penalty that led to goal 2? He also made numerous of those bad passes you mentioned (including the one that screwed up the last gasp scoring play they drew up.)

Hossa is taking up too much salary cap to play like that.

Just did a little research, the Hawks haven't won in Dallas since April 6, 2010. Not as bad as I thought, but since the lockout we are 4-8-2 in games played in Dallas. Hardly impressive, it's a good thing the Stars don't make the playoffs cause they just give us fits.

Last night was a weird game, something just wasn't clicking plus Lehtonen playing out of his mind made it tough game to watch.

Saad looked real jittery in the first, then good for the rest of the game but I agree with you guys its hard for a 18 year kid playing his first game to do much when he basically played with everyone on the team. And really, Montador on the 4th line, it was almost puke time, we need to get healthy so we don't have to watch that again.

I did see someone yapping at him.

The sad thing is it was either Pirri or Frolik, can't remember which.

Yep... hope we see John Scott in the lineup tonight. So called tough guy Mayers wanted nothing to do with Ott.

I blame the blind pass turnover that led to the first goal on Keith, he had room to do something other than the stupid ring around that other teams know is coming because it is a well documented pattern. Hossa is not without some blame though because he shouldn't have assumed Keith wouldn't make a bad play.

Hossa played well enough to be one of the top two players for the Hawks last night IMO. That's more of an indictment on the rest of the players than saying Hossa played like an allstar. The thing that caught my eye about Hossa last night was he was about the only one on the Hawks that played physical in all areas of the ice all game long.

11 forwards, you're going to have musical lines.

Saad was lost out there.

It was Sharp's first game since last season, I'm sure he didn't have his legs at all.

Hawks had 5 PP's in a row, again...lines are going to come out of that 3-4 shifts jumbled

Hawks had 1 center, Toews

With all his poor line juggling, and zero chemistry...they pumped out 22 shots in the middle period to what, 8? And left down 2-0

Kruger>Pirri for NHL play...I don't care about preseason. Smarter and more responsible.

The shitty ice will hurt a puck possesion/skill team more - than a team that plays a 4 and 1 box in their own zone. You wont get rebound chances, so you need to score on counters or a rush. Hawks had numerous chances and Lethonen either came up huge or they missed the net.

Kane and Hossa looked good. So did Leddy. I can never stand/like 7 Dmen dressed. Hurts their flow - but with Smith, Stalberg, Bolland, Carcillo all out...and it only being 2 games....NHL teams do that. I'm sure by the third..the legs were burning/lungs on fire. I don't care how good of shape a player is in....hence, the reason Montador started at wing in the 3rd - to keep players from double shifting.

We'll see how the Hawks are on NHL ice tonite.

That wasn't a blind pass. That's a pass to where Hossa is SUPPOSED to be. There was no reason for Hossa to NOT be on the boards in that situation. If Hossa is where he is supposed to be, that is a textbook breakout. What the **** is Hossa doing on that goal? He was above the fucking blue line cherry picking. That puck didn't get picked up by a winger, it got picked up by Hossa's man.

As for everything else, that's what happens when you dress 11 forwards and 7 defensemen. Q was a fucking idiot last night. Mayers looks like shit, and he's going to be seeing a lot of press box duty if he is really as slow and ineffective as he looks out there.

80+ degrees in Chicago today. I wouldn't hold my breath that the UC ice is good.

And O'Donnell looked like a slow version of John Scott (pretty hard to do).

I wasn't impressed with any of the new defensemen, to be honest. O'Donnell, Lepisto, Montador, all looked pretty shitty.

Yeah, he was floating behind the "D" and he in an area where the guy was between him and Keith. You cannot expect to get a catchable pass past thier "D" so Hossa must be below that "D" man.

As far as his playing physical, maybe so--I have to admit I was playing hockey and missed the beginning of the game and need to go back and watch that part, but I saw enough to not be satisfied with his play compared to what we pay him. A veteran should never let Steve Ott goad him into a slashing penalty either.

I know it is REALLY early but preseason and one game in and our team is starting to look like Abe Lincoln. (Hails from Illinois and can't finish a play.)
