Speaking of the cap situation, is this really the best we can do?
Campbell sure didn't solve many problems as many hoped when he returned to the line-up... but trading him might. I always thought it was a bad idea but perhaps the depth we can gain in return is more important at this point.
In order to trade a cap hit like Campbell, we would have to take on, more then likely, another teams big cap hit. That cap shit maybe 3-4 million which would save us 3 million in the long run, but it's not like we can trade Campbell and not have to bring on a real investment in return.
I saw about the first 15 minutes of the game last night and after watching SJ work the Hawks over physically I could already tell what the final outcome was going to be.
What really needs to happen is for our "core" players, you know the guys we supposedly can't do without, to step up and start playing as if they deserve the money and ice time they have been getting. Keith from the stats I saw only got 18 minutes last night and rightfully so as he's been terrible defensively. I'm beginning to think last year was his one "big" year and that he's nothing more then a #2-3 defense men. Kaner has been a bit inconsistent the month of November point wise, either hitting big totals in a game or none at all. Sharpie started off hot, but has slowly fizzled out and his defensive game this season is non-existent. Toews offensive game is quite like Kane's being streaky, but at least Toews is a +5 and we know he's playing well defensively. Bolland is just going through the motions, and he's not even doing that well enough. For being a 4th line player, Skille is a +5 while Kopecky is -11. Turco is playing like your typical "end of the road" goaltender and I see Crawford taking the reigns by January.
Just some observations and my opinion.
