LOL! You have a pogo stick over there?

Up and down, up and down..... Glad you could hop back on.

Frolik's Mom, Dad and GF were in last night. When I saw them before the game I had a feeling he'd hit the back of the net.

Never jumped off.

I do need to be less emotional about this team, though.

It's a long season and I need to be better about getting too high or too low.

That felt like a playoff game last night it was so fun to watch.

despite a little lapse in the 3rd period I thought the boys looked pretty solid. Is the STK line the best line going in the NHL right now? One could make that argument. They look amazing and wow some pretty goals esp that first one last night.

Gotta hand it to the Flames they kept coming. Bourque and Iginla were killers last night.

Nice game by Frolik. Hope that continues we need him playing hat confident game he showed last night. Maybe this will jump start him a little?

And yes even Ryan Johnson looked good last night lol. He was great in the circle.

Would have been a great game to talk about in chat but I hate you all.

So why is that every season Toews waits til late in the season to turn it up a notch? Not saying he hasn't been good all year but it seems like after the all-star break he just goes into extra gear.

I was thinking about that last night after the game. If he could find consistency he'd lead the league in points. So far in four years, he's started slow every one of them.

TCD did you say Johnson was good last night? Feel your forhead!!

Anyone catch Johnson and Iginla jawing in the FO Circle in the 3rd period? Funny ass shit!

Bickell annoyed me on 2 of the goals last nite. He needs to compete harder for the 50/50 pucks. I cant figure out why he seems to lose every battle in his own zone - as if he's too slow to get there or just disinterested in battling for loose pucks.

I wonder if Frolik stays with Bolland and Hossa (he got some looks there as the game went on I thought)...and maybe Pisani gets back in with Dowell and Brouwer.

Would be nice if coach mix a line would leave him there. He got two games there, didn't produce, although skated well, and Q as usual began playing musical lines with him.

Well, the coach needs to do whats best for the team, and not just one player. Alot of the moves Q has made, has worked well (the D pairings, putting Sharp at wing with Toews and Kane, his matchups) work well that he doesnt get enough credit for. Who's to say that they dont go 7-1-2 with Frolik moving down? I don't think its been musical lines as much as trying to find out what works, letting him get acclimated. I'm sure there was alot of pressure right away to come to a new team, his scoring slump, then to get put with Hossa on a second line.

I had no problem with moving him down, let him get comfortable and concentrate on his timing and learning the system. I'm sure last nites game gave him a bit of confidence and his play without the puck is getting better.

Bickell....on the other hand....

And a lot of line juggling has NOT helped the team. You can't have it both ways. Sorry I will not defend Q on this in the slightest. Two games is not enough to gain ANY chemistry with players that have never played together.

Probably the biggest peave I have with Q. Defend him all you want his line goofs have cost this team points. No question.

And I will defend Q on this and the fact he won the cup based on his juggling and line matchups - which he owned every coach in the playoffs last year doing.

His "goofs" won this team the cup, although you assume any coach would have simply won the cup - as if its that easy.

Not a chance. He won the Cup on the talent of the team he had. Scotty Bowman was responsible for the line changes in the Finals.

You might have won the Cup behind the bench of this team last year.

Guess we'll just agree to disagree here. I think without him screwing around this team would have 10-16 more points right now.

Scotty doesnt match lines behind the bench (and I'm a Bowman fan) and no doubting Q is exceptional at that. Speaking of Scotty - he was the King of juggling his lines. He'd keep 2 players together on each line, then rotate left wingers. And he was the master of retread players too - bringing his players with him, as Keenan tried following suit (Mike thought of himself as Scotty's protege). But he believed in keeping balanced scoring on his lines with 2 scorers and 1 checker/defensive player, which played into his left wing lock. When his team needing scoring, the LWingers would be sitting and scorers put together.

If players are playing well and the team is winning, there's no reason to juggle. Q used the regular season to find his team and let the players define thier roles, which is why now its done less and less.

And dont put yourself THAT far out there defending my lackluster coaching...lol. But I guess if Savard, Graham, Alpo, Molkenen...some of those other slugs can do it, maybe I could..haha

By the way...is Pisani skating?

Yea Pisani skated at yesterdays morning Skate. I'm pretty sure he's ready to go.

And line matching, verses line Juggling is quite a bit different. He even flubs that sometimes as well. IE putting the wrong line out after a goal against. Not going for a statement, rather ride the tide so to speak.

I'm sure Q is good for the team and they respect him which is most important. I just disagree with some of his movement. Which explains why he never won the Cup on some extremely stacked St. Louis teams.

Bickell is a disaster on our "shutdown" line with Bolland and Hossa. They were getting beat on all game long by Calgary's top line, and almost all of that pressure came from Bickell's side of the ice. I would MUCH rather see Brouwer on that line, if they're going to match it against the other team's top lines. Hell, even Frolik is better, I think. Bickell seems to struggle keeping up with the top lines. He also loses WAY too many board battles for a guy of his size. He needs to take skating clinics this summer, like he took stickhandling clinics last. For being as big as he is, he's not very strong on his skates.

Same here, he seems to have no balance as well. Maybe that males it harder to get leverage to dig pucks out.

He falls down a lot too, or at least gets knocked over way to easily for a guy his size.

He is a head scratcher for sure.

Not really a head scratcher. He's just not a very strong skater. He is always skating straight up. Not nearly enough knee bend. It's why he falls down a lot too. If he improved on that part of his game, he would be a force to be reckoned with.

He actually has a pretty good cap hit of 542K for 2 more years after this. Being he has played a total of 84 NHL games and has 19g-19a...165 hits....I guess it's a pretty good bargain.

He only has 45 PIMS. Not that I want a guy to take penalties (especially bad ones), I just think if he was more aggressive, went to the net harder - like Brouwer or Kopecky...hell, like Johnson - he'd be so much more effective. It's his first year, so he may definately get better, but if not - I'd rather see him on the 4th line or the occassional scratch to keep him on edge/fighting for his shifts.

I like Bickell and what he brings to the table, that said he'll continue to be inconsistent early in his career especially offensively. His hot streak was nice, players like him will always be up and down during the season, but in order to help the Hawks night in and night out he has to play a consistent physical game. The points are just a bonus from a guy like Bickell.
