I've heard it and it doesn't bother me. One of my good friends is former Army. We've talked a lot about the differences. We had it pretty good (food, living conditions, etc) comparatively.

air force living was good. I was headed to the Marines and my pops.. a 30 yrs army vet talked me into the AF. it was okay.. I was security forces le.. got recruited for tacp but didnt do that.. didnt plan of making it a career after living the military brat life and 3 step moms later... but felt the need to serve a short bit. if i were gonna do 20...i also had the option for aircraft body repair and maintenance.

pops was intel, uncle green beret, gramps was infantry, great gramps was calvary, step mom 3 was intel, step dad was navy cook.. its safe to say that my family didnt come from money...

I don’t disagree…
A bit of self confidence, discipline, and encouragement can make an incredible difference.
Sadly that’s something no longer found in many homes.
Had I joined out of High School, I may have gone to Nam, 1972. I had little interest in serving that war though would have if my # was called.

At this point I couldn’t disagree more…
I spent half my life in military service… and once agreed but not in today’s society… holy shit… not even close.
I wouldn’t want to depend on anyone who didn’t want to be there. The majority of the US is now incredibly fragile… to the point a word can literally cripple them emotionally. (I know.., hard to believe ).
Can you honesty picture half the people (or more) who are anonymous on social media in a life/death confrontation? I mean literally?

I did 28 years in the Air Force (Someone called it Chair Force).
I did two 90 day CSTs at fort Riley Kansas directly in route to my two 365 day embedded combat (By With and Through) MiTT missions in both Iraq (2006-2007) and Afghanistan (2008-2009) …
These were my last (combat tours) due to a miriade of injury’s .
Prior to that I served in both the Gulf War and CJTF HOA in Somolia, Djibouti, and Kenya. Followed later by tours in Vietnam, Laos etc.
For you that can’t add that is 90 + 365 twice in combat and a shit ton other tours. This accomplished all while my phenomenal /incredible wife (on her own) rocked out my children with NO FUCKING HELP… household moves, car pools, shots, schools, sports, clothing, food, bills, etc. I came home between my Iraq/Afghan tours to have my beloved daughter who was 6 when I left and 8 when I returned tell me to my face how I missed two birthdays in a row…. To this day I remember her tears when she told me that…. While I swallowed mine… and packed for Afghanistan.

I crawled out of a shit town called Rockford after High School… and served until my mid 40s when I honorably retired.
I now Net 6500,00 on the first of the month for the rest of my life… as long as I wake up. Then my wife will continue to draw until the end of her life… this of course includes education bennies.

In addition my family has Platinum healthcare with no prescription fees or copays for 45 bucks a month. Unless I need specialist care… that copay is 12-28 dollars depending.

And I earned every fucking bit of it
Along with the Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, etc who served next to me.
I love them all!

Yet in the end… and through it all..
Our family remains steadfast and devoted to each other today.
By the love and grace of our savior.

Thank you for your service and you deserve everything you have earned. Unlike stolen valor twerps like @Black Rainbow

@MikeDitkaPolishSausage didn't he tell you he lived in Southern California/LA when he was trying to meet up and fight you last year?
I don’t remember if he said he lived in SoCal but he did mention his grandma lives here. So he wanted to meet up in that area to fight…..

His grandma has a nice house and very comfortable bed.

You served, you served your country - God bless. You have earned the right to criticize your government. Not saying that citizens don't have the right...just that you definitely earned yours.

Why would you lie about service? Did you fail boot camp? You aren't military. My entire family is law enforcement and military. And you're a ho ass *****. Someone who served wouldn't be such a twat. Stolen Valor is a crime. Either state your branch of service or shut the **** up.

I asked if you wanted to meet up for a beer.

...turns out you're not that brave. Just like I figured.

You don’t think it would build stronger character and less emotionally unstable people? I haven’t served or been through it but you would think the training the friendships built etc would create better mentality for society

@Chicagosports89 There’s your answer! I guess I wasn’t “brave” enough to meet up for a beer.

Your right @Black Rainbow I wasn’t “brave” enough to fight that 1 hour traffic to go meet you for a delicious beach side IPA.

I don’t agree with forced military service.
However I agree with you on some type of community service at a state or local level for the reasons you mentioned.

Just apologize for lying about being a vet and we can move on.
Yes. I had to Google being on a random amphibious ship that no one has ever heard of until I mentioned it yesterday.

You're like Angery Boomer rn.

Meltdown epic. The year is 2055...

@Grimson - "The MAGAs are out to get me."

Own children: "Dad, Trump has been dead since 2028."

Grimson: "I hate those honkies." (Never survived Naperville.)

?

huh?
This is the worst post ever.
