My advice;

Never seek advice and never give it. (neither a borrower, nor a lender be)

You ******* can just owe me for that bit of wisdom.

I am buying a house, closing in the next couple weeks at some point.... I am trying to decide on financing my furniture purchases or just buying as I can and having a half empty house for a while.

Advise me!

LOL,

be neither a borrower...nor a lender be.

Sit in lawn chairs until you can pay cash for the couch you want/need/can afford.

(I'm not making this stuff up; it's written in books that people buy)

Yeah, pay up front when feasible. If it's not feasible, buy cheaper furniture ;)

Ok lets go this way then.... I am estimating after closing I will have about 5-6k available.

2k will go for HVAC replacement.... my dad has a guy who is getting me a discount and doing the work for my little brothers old car.

That leaves me 3-4k for furniture, TV, a Fridge/Freezer, Washer/Dryer, and some work I want to have my dad do (hes retired) on re-flooring some areas downstairs.

No way 3-4k covers all of that, what would you spend on 1st? Im guessing Fridge/Freezer and Washer/Dryer

appliances are not furniture...whole different budget/need/issue.

Get the shit you need, like fridge and washer/dryer first.

That's not advice; just simple logic.

(Japanese people sit, eat and sleep on the floor their whole lives; surely you can manage for a few weeks/months, and it might be good for yall anyway)

We bought a cheap living room set when we first bought our house 14 years ago. I've lost track of how many couches and chairs we've gone through since then but we haven't paid for a single one. Our friends will buy new stuff and instead of throwing out their old stuff, they'll just give it to us.
