This made 2007 more moot.
Just out of curiosity, what was the title of the song played? I must admit, with everything else that happened, that was one heck of a good choice! When people were asking me during Training Camp, I was asked "What do you think they should do with the banner ceremony?", I answered "The most memorable way possible music-wise, and not with 'We Are The Champions'. Something very instrumental, yet powerful, something that could beat Detroit's recent ceremony and Anaheim's out of the water, and give the fans a memory they will never forget.
The Hawks did just that.
The montage was on the ice was beautiful as well. Screw the fact McPimp was milking the cow for what it was worth. The fans deserved every minute of it. I figured... 49 years... 49 minutes? I must admit, he put a darn good show up, too. You gotta give him that, even though our opinions of him are far different. By far though, this was the best banner ceremony I ever saw... ever, and I attended the 2007 ceremony.
This one, I wish I attended.... and if anyone feels generous enough to want to hand out one of those little mini-banners they were handing out, I know I'd love to have one to go on my wall.
Again, though, congratulations to each and every one of you.
