I will say thought they're winning games they would have lost last year

Man, there's no way I can get that optimistic. I do see good signs though

Shock the world? EVERYTHING would have to go right this year for that to happen.

I am however liking the fact that they have yet to lose a series, Lester has not pitched well at all, and Bryant and Russell are still in AAA that should only help this team even further when they arrive.

I would like to see a line-up of:

Fowler
Coghlan
Rizzo
Bryant
Soler
Castro
Russell
Montero

The Cubs haven't been two games over .500 I think, since 2009.

One series at a time Cubbies, and hopefully we will be in it and be buyers at the deadline instead of sellers. ;)

Like that batting order. And the Cubs have not been over the .500 mark period since yeah 2009.

I think it's OK to be excited, I think the change in this team is palpable but I also think that as fans we should never get too far out over our skis. Enjoy the early success, be excited to watch the kids, be excited when Kris Bryant comes up but temper the expectations. There's still work to do here.

I'd love it if Back to the Future was right, but then I'd be surrounded by whiny Cardinal fans claiming some big conspiracy.

Swap Soler and Coughlan, you don't move your best hitter to a spot where he gets fewer at bats.

The difference between this year and last year is the bullpen and OBP. IF this holds all year long and BRyant rakes it then we are a playoff team. I count 3 Ifs we are depending on.

I was just throwing the names out there, and furthermore, Bryant should get some protection since he has not been in the majors yet. Any way you look at it, you want some kind of proven hitter behind him, and if that said person has "POP" in his bat, it's even better. Coghlan also maintains an really good OBP, and is left handed which shields the runner at first base. If the runner happens to be at 2nd base, it is easy for Coghlan to pull the ball to advance him.

As far as Soler batting 5th, to me, it lessens the chance of them pitching around Bryant, thus, giving Kris better pitches to hit.

Just the thought of Bryant and Russell in the line-up as I said, and putting Olt and Alcantara back to strengthen the bench has me....:fap:ping

Soler may be a better hitter than Bryant. Why would they use Soler to protect him?
