I just want to know why CO think we'll win the World Series in 2012 (albeit he said it a long time ago). I see us as an 80 win team, which is completely realistic. I'm concerned with the team's age and health.

Not sure why 2012 WS is out of question?

I don't think we'll be world beaters next season, actually, far from it. Mainly because our division has improved by A LOT, which by default will make us worse, despite us also improving. I think we'll be a better team on the field, i think we'll give more of a fight when we play the big giants of the league but the overall record may not show it. It's a learning experience and we have a lot of good young players to build around on. I think 2012, or more specifically 2013, is a real target year where we can truly win it all. All assuming that our young players develop right and we hit a few home runs in the free agent market.

Next season, i would compare our team to the 2008 New York Yankees. They had a lot of good young players, lots of money expiring and they just kept developing the kids, and spend big money in that winter to add on to their roster, which worked great for them and won them the title the following year. Nobody would have predicted the Yankees to win the world series early in 2008 within 2-3 years.

For being an ignorant ****.

1) I have to met you to know that you are the most annoying Cubs fan in the world?

2) You aren't honest, you are pessimistic as ****.

3) I don't care if you show me a Model T or the first copy of the Bible. It makes no difference. What does the length of time since we have won a World Series do to this years team? What effect does it have on them? None.

4) It's obvious we suck? I'm Captain Fucking Obvious and my Obvious-meter isn't going off.

5) No one said Garza, Pena, and Wood improved us 12 games, but we will have Castro for a full year, which will give us a slight boost at 2B, we will have Koyie Hill not playing like 1/3 of the games, we will have a healthy Aramis Ramirez, which equates to a shit load of value, and most importantly we won't have a black hole at 1B. Only the Dodgers and Shitsburgh had lower production out of 1B in the NL last year.

6) What's the point of watching the team if you have absolutely no hope at all for the team? The prospects?

7) You haven't justified shit.

You can't use fucking WAR to project how we will be next year. Plus, see above.

Being an average team is sucking? Your definition of sucking sucks.

Being a Cub fan isn't something that you can just be when we are doing well. Let me clarify, being a TRUE Cub fan isn't something that you can just be when we are doing well. That would be a fair weather fan, which is exactly what you are.

Yes, I have mentioned I think we will have a shot a contending in 2012, barring a big signing next offseason. So what?

You aren't ashamed but you aren't proud? What are you?

No one is saying that we aren't a mess, but we don't suck. If we can be a mess and not suck, that's progressive.

Hold the **** on. Who doesn't take notice of Soriano's contract? Names, I want names and how they don't "take notice." That's the biggest POS I have ever heard.

I never said we would win. I said we would contend.

So we suck if we don't make the playoffs? If we suck, what is Shitsburgh?

Whatever, I don't care anymore since you don't think they'll win it all in 2012.

I watch every Cubs game, I love the Cubs. I can't wait for the season to start. But looking at this team, I don't see how we will be able to compete. Ramirez, Soriano, Wood, etc. are huge injury risks. They have to have absolutely everything go right in order to contend. I just can't see it.

BTW, I may be overly pessimistic, but you are always too optimistic.

What do you define as sucking? I define sucking as under .500. Using last year's WAR values, the Cubs added 2.9 wins this offseason. To be .500, we needed to add 12 wins. That still puts us at just 78 wins. That's sucking in my book.

Well I think thats taking WAR a bit too much as Bible as apposed to just a stat. You have to remember while we may not have added a lot this offseason in terms of 2009 WAR we still added a lot in terms of actual value. We definitely improved at 1B, and we are hopefully getting Ramirez back. That alone will make the team a bit better.

Regardless this is a 500 team most likely. A few lucky breaks and a couple of career seasons and we could very well be a playoff team. I think the Cubs are an 80-82 win team, but I don't really see the Brewers/Reds as any more than a 88-90 win team. A division title isn't all that incomprehensible. Regardless I still think we are two years away.

Ya, I was just using WAR to show that the players we got aren't HUGE difference makers.

And I agree, but Cincy sucks.

I disagree on Cincy. I made a 100 dollar bet last year that the Reds would end up with more wins than the Cubs.

They have good pitching, good hitting, and a good defense. I don't really see the Reds falling off I still think they are the team to beat in the central. I don't think the Brewers are all that great.

Ya, Cincy only played 53 games against teams .500 or above the entire season, and only won 20 of those. That means that they played 109 games against below .500 teams. That had something to do with their success.

How can you say you love the Cubs when you have said multiple times that you don't think they will ever win? That's part of being a fan, having that OPTIMISM.

Show where I seriously said they will never win. That's not what I said. I just don't see anything going for us right now.

I've always believed that they'd win in 2018 or 2019.
