What do you define as sucking? I define sucking as under .500. Using last year's WAR values, the Cubs added 2.9 wins this offseason. To be .500, we needed to add 12 wins. That still puts us at just 78 wins. That's sucking in my book.

your math sucks. we finished 75-87...unless 12 games are ADDED to the schedule, 12 wins would equal a record 87-75...and 87 wins would compete in the NL-C.

And, I didn't use any WAR values at all.

I was referring to games under .500.

And that was from like 3 weeks ago IIRC, it is old man.

just started at the beginning...saw a post that didn't make any sense...and your negative connotation towards the cubbies gets on my nerves...so w/out looking at the date, I commented.

however, you also have the best post in this thread...so I suppose all is forgiven. :hi5:

Which post?

I'm not as negative as I sounded BTW. I had just had to hear a bunch of Cubs fans starting stuff with Sox fans and were claiming that the Sox sucked and the Cubs were easily the favorites to win the World Series, so I was sick of the over-optimism, lol.

Levine thinks that Vitters can hit MLB pitching, but not play a defensive position.

Kosuke for Blanton?? This trade actually makes sense for both teams. The Cubs would like another starter in their rotation that has has success and will be better than Silva. I believe he will and the Phills need another 4th OF and a bench after losing Dominick Brown for some time. This is not a rumor, just a thought.

No we do not need another starting pitcher. We already are on the border of having too many.

Plus we already have Silva who is basically Blanton.

He might be able to. I still think he is a year out, but yeah his defense is cause for concern.

Blanton has had success and I like him over Silva. By a lot. We do have too many but sucky ones. The only 3 I see think would have a chance for the rotation is Cash, Wells and Banton then. With no trade, Cash, Wells and Silva. No one else.

To trade Kosuke, I'm all for it. But the trade will have to be bigger. We don't need more SP but we need ones who can help. I think Blanton will prove that he can still pitch and surprise us.

Why do you want to take on an extra year and $17 Million remaining on a contract to all but guarantee Cashner is in the bullpen forever?

The Cubs will only take on 4M and that's not knowing if any money will be involve. If does not say Cash will be in the pen forever. We don't even know if Cash will be a good SP. I hope but we don't know. I think Wells could be an effective RP but he most likely won't.

Cashner won't be starting in the next 2 years if we get Blanton. By then, he'll be in the pen for good without ever getting a chance.

Cubs extended their PDC with Tennesse through 2014 in Fenbruary, but we all must have missed it or not posted it.
