OK. I know I'm opening myself up for some ridicule here but that's fine....

I'm fat. Fucking F A T. I weigh 240 and probably should be 185. At least that's a weight that worked well in college. Several years ago I got down to 205 and that looked pretty good. I'd like to get anywhere below 200 and maintain it this time.

I'm going to bump this thread every 30 days or so with my current weight.... not because I expect anyone here to give a shit.... but because the act of typing it out for public knowledge seems to make it a little more real for me.

If anyone else here wants to join me and post some current weights and goals as well that'd be cool just to have some company.

Totally with you, man!

I played H.S. football at 235 (DT) and rugby in college at 225. Ballooned to 257 in my 30s as kids, wife, mortgage took over. No time!

Changing my life at 34. I don't smoke tobacco and rarely drink, maybe an average of a bottle of wine every 3 months. It's just porion sizes and late night eating. I eat a ton of fiber through veggies and fruits but have those two issues.

Currently at 237. I've lost 20 pounds in roughly the past month. I am never turning around. Let's do this. I will check in weekly.

Those are big issues for me. I don't smoke unless I booze but I booze a decent amount. I blame the industry and I love the booze. I will never be able to stop boozing but just tone it down some. Im not an alcoholic or anything but I need to do less.

Also, my biggest problem is bread. I don't know how to eat a meal without it. I believe you should never diet. You should make life changes. Dieting doesn't last. Any tips on how to cut the bread? Like the cravings? Also, I do yoga. I do different types but I love DDP yoga. Im genetically built big. I have huge shoulders and chest, so I stopped going for the mass and want the flexibility and the stamina now. I was a big powerlifter. I realize now that humans weren't made to throw around heavy weights their whole life.

How tall are you? Many of the BMI charts are way off and do not account for muscle weight, etc.

What are you doing to lose the weight?

Paleo diet shreads. Paleo lifestyle keeps it off.

try just eliminating sugars first...

Yeah I have worked hard on that.... I will never get 100% there though....

Eliminating some of my sugar intake has helped me drop the weight I have dropped.

Chef stitches is right about bread. Get rid of processed starches is next level after sugars.

I've tried to drop some pounds lately, but the "dieting" hasn't been cutting it for me (just try to intake less calories and possibly go a little higher protein and lower carb if possible). I need more exercise in my life...couple days a week isn't doing it.

That would eliminate my lunch sammiches... I usually only eat bread in my lunch sammiches.... and I use wheat bread.

6'2" and 215 currently. Would like to get to 200 again. Drinking is my problem, and I should eliminate sugars. Cut bread down to almost nil.

That was one of the ways I was going to start the non bread. Im starting with I can't have any form of bread after lunch and go from there. Im not one of those dudes that wants to be 5% body fat. I want to enjoy my life and the food around it, but just want to keep it in check. All business during the week. Party on the weekend. You know what Im saying.

I do.... that is much of what I do.... if I wanna lose weight faster I probably ought to try to eat better on the weekends.

Don't eat Works every time

If you have to eat I have done Atkins twicw with pretty good success. But when I do it I go all in for 0 -20 carbs a day and that is it. No alchohol for the first 2 weeks until Ketosis kicks in and then hard stuff with no sugars is fine. All meat, cheese, fat, eggs, you can eat. But no starches. If it is white you can't have it. I have totally stopped all sugar intake unless it is already in the food I eat. So if you like to eat fat go with Atkins. Dropped 45 lbs the first time. Kept it off about 15 years and then got lazy....Balloned up to 235 when I should be about 190-200 considering I am old now. Lost those 35 lbs and now sit at about 200 and am pretty comfortable.

I drink WAYYYYY to much so that is my downfall.

Assuming you're home the mornings and possibly lunch.. eat healthy those two meals.. if you're going out with friends or just want to relax in the evening without cooking anything, then do so on the weekends...

For me its usually "shit dinner Friday night, healthy breakfast Saturday.. sometimes a healthy lunch Saturday.. shit dinner... healthy breakfast, lunch, dinner Sunday".. Doesn't always happen, but thats usually what I aim for.
