They will probably be suspending him indefinitely until an in person meeting Friday. That would be my guess.

There is no way they can let him play Thursday and then suspend him later...just no way.

Well hey, they already let him play an extra 60 mies, why not go for 120?

Its quite stupid but I have a feeling that the league is going to suspend Torres based on the outcome of the game tomorrow. Longer suspension if the Hawks win? Shorter suspension if they lose? Just a thought...

would like to see Torres out for rest of playoffs and 40 games next year but not likely to happen, might be a good way for the league to make a statement....

It needs to sink in a bit, these 2 teams were not true rivals until last night barring a rook mistake that players tend to overlook.

Intensity was not good before the incident, this should help.

yeah, its hard to expect the guys to get fired up over a loopy call made by the nhl against one of their players.

its a lot more likely they'll get up for Hossa- particularly now that they know the extent of his injury and aren't completely shell shocked by it like they appeared to be post-hit.

there's no doubt they rallied behind Seabrook last year. Hossa will garner the same response.

It's very unnerving to see one of your teammates taken off on a stretcher. Not always easy to rally the troops when you're genuinely concerned about the well-being of that player. But as Buff said, that mentality can develop in 48 hours.

All of my hockey hatred has been spent on Vancouver in the last two years. I'm glad I could add Phoenix to the list, spread it around a bit.

That hit was old school NFL stuff banned long ago, obviously was designed to send a message...not sure why. No player expects a blind side head shot right in front of a ref who happened to be looking the other direction.

Is this what happens when the NHL decides to have 5 pages of rules governing fighting?.

Look at how different Matt Cooke is now. Goes from an idiot to a solid overall hockey player.

Torres needs to be snapped in two but not holding my breath on that happening.

Carcillo was growing on me til what he did to Gilbert...and himself.

It's not like he's John Scott. The guy can play in the NHL if he'd use his brain alot more.

Didn't McQuaid pummel him pretty good? There's just no learning with Torres.

I think Bettman and the NHL purposely turn a blind eye to this stuff. How can the refs miss the call, when one of them has a direct view of the play? And how come the NBA and NCAA use instant replay to review flagrant fouls, yet the NHL, who could really utilize replay not only for illegal hits but also for those mass melees, doesn't use replay?

When Hossa was being stretchered off, the jumbotron was showing replays of Torres' hit to the head, so it was pretty obvious to everyone what happened...including the refs. How can a ref see what happens, and still allow Torres to play? In the 3rd period, Torres almost had the game-winning assist on a 2-on-1 break...HUH? What is he doing on the ice?

My reaction to the Hossa hit wasn't really anger...it was almost sadness. The camera showing Torres sitting on the bench, waiting for Hossa to be stretchered off the ice so he can begin his next shift...the realization that the NHL is a POS league.

I think, in a sense, you're right. I think the only thing Bettman cares about is his clients' (the owners) wallets.
