It's not a fucking dictatorship Klemm. There are committees on both the players side and management side who actually dictate rules and regs. How do you know Bettman was actually in favor of the trapezoid? Maybe he favors no touch icing? Have you seen in print the things he believes in and things he doesnt.

And then for being a first class ass clown thinking I am a supporter of McDick for the Brains when 99% of posters at IHN know my feelings on the subject proves once again you may have been a fan of this team for 100 some odd years but most of the time you haven't a clue. I think age may be catching up to you.[/quote]

He actually is in favor of no-touch icing as he's stated in interviews before.

If you don't think his thoughts are considered heavily, your head is so far up your ass that an optalanalogy won't help you at all.

Here's a NHL news release for you.

“NHL ENACTS RULES CHANGES,

CREATES COMPETITION COMMITTEE

NEW YORK (July 22, 2005) - The National Hockey League's Board of Governors today approved a series of rule changes that will emphasize entertainment, skill and competition on the ice. Commissioner Gary Bettman, who presented the package to the Board, also formally announced the creation of a new Competition Committee which was responsible for formulating and recommending the proposed slate of rules changes for approval by the NHL Board of Governors.

One primary objective of the new rules will be to reduce the scope of defensive "tools" a team may effectively employ, and to create a corresponding benefit to the offensive part of the game -- thus allowing skill players to use their skills and increasing the number and quality of scoring chances in the game.,.....

.......Goaltenders may play the puck behind the goal line only in a trapezoid-shaped area defined by lines that begin six feet from either goal post and extend diagonally to points 28 feet apart at the endboards.

If he didn't approve, why would he present it for consideration?

Of course he presents it to the board of governors, who else would? He is the CEO of the NHL. Because he presents it doesn't mean he is for it. You are really grasping at straws here Klemm. I would bet you $1 to donuts he has little to add regarding the rules of the game. He leaves to the people who are part of rules and ethics.

Heard an interview on NHL radio with Jim Devellano - Senior Vice-President/Alternate Governor for Detroit. He was emphatic in stating that Bettman was the one that WANTED to keep both Quebec and Winnepeg in Canada - but no one (zero, nada, zilch) stepped up in Canada to buy them keep the team there. Therefore, they looked elsewhere. But he made it very clear the Gary was out soliciting anyone in Canada to buy them.

Yet....people that simply hate Bettman, seem to blame him for teams leaving there.

I heard the same interview NHL on XM quite some time back. Bettman is an easy whipping boy for people with nothing better to do. Wait until McDick for Brains takes over for Bettman down the road. Then you'll have something to ***** about.

I McD did become commissioner there would be positives. He would give the fans what we want judging from what he did here. He'd be out of the Hawks hair. The NHL would also be marketed out the ass, and from how I've complained about how poorly marketed it is now, it would be a good thing. Also games would go back to ESPN.

You did real well until you brought BSPN into the discussion. That said, I see it happening when he becomes commissioner. They were made for each other.

That's also the time when the NHL will have jumped the shark. If you thought Slap Shot ll was bad, that will be the NHL.

Our hero is on NHLN right now with Rocky.

You can see the passion in Rocky, but it's just business to our hero.

Dale Tallon played a MAJOR role in the ascension of this franchise where we are tonight; he's primarily responsible for this...... McD on NHLN
