hell, tyler scott could even end up that guy. If caleb is the real deal scott should be open plenty deep this year

That's very true. I forgot about his off season already.

If he is then we're free to fish around the low rounds for those bad FA WRs before they're FA. Maybe even pick up some trades in the process if Caleb can make them look good.

That would be great. I want whatever our version of the Greatest Show on Turf. This team is set to have two real studs at WR like Isaac Bruce and Torry Holt in year 1 with Moore and Allen, and a smooth transition to Odunze lined up for a great continuity at the position. Add the possibly with Scott, you get your solid third option that attacks zones that safeties vacate like Hakeem would.

Now where the heck are we gonna find a RB like Faulk??

If they let Allen walk I wouldn’t want to sign a FA WR for the 3rd spot. With 2 2nds and the recent value you can get at WR in that round, using the panthers pick on a WR to lock up on the cheap for the next few years might be the way to go.

DJM
Rome
2nd round
Scott

That’s a young group that can develop together and you’re not breaking the bank whatsoever on the WR corp.

Still have not lost faith in scott. He seems like a perfect 3rd WR to pair while DJ/Rome do the dirty work. Hopefully his strong camp translates to real games cause I havent seen shit in preseason thus far lol.

Defensive end in the first round, Ideally those 2 2nd's should be used on a guard and center. Good chance the bears need to fill all 3 interior positions with starters next year ;(

I haven’t lost faith in Scott but not ready to pencil him in as the 3rd WR.

I’m hoping the Bears could make a run at Creed Humphrey and that they could work out a friendly deal with Teven. If so, they’d only need to draft an OG if they’re not sold on Bates/Kiran as starters going forward.

If Odunze is the real deal we need to allocate the 15-20 mil aav it would take to keep Allen to the trenches, extend Jenkins, etc. next offseason the trenches needs to be the main focus on both sides of the ball, draft and free agency.

Sign Creed Humphrey
Extend Teven (2 yrs)

1st: DL
2nd: WR
2nd: OG

There’s also a number of potential pass rushers the Bears may be able to acquire on a reasonable deal. Mack, Josh Sweat, Judon all come to mind.

Dexter is getting some hype early, but it’s very possible he doesn’t take the leap the bears are looking for. If so, signing an edge in FA and drafting a 3T in the 1st might be the way to go. You could never have enough depth on the DL.

What a change. So many of the Bears #1 WRs would've been lucky to make #3 on other teams. Now we're getting picky about who can make it to #3?

I'd pencil him in. See how he does. If he can't do it then use the eraser by FA or the draft.

I liked the trade at the time and think it was the right call. Gives CW two legitimate NFL WRs while they bring Oduze along. If Odunze progresses well throughout the season, you let Allen walk and use the money along one of the lines
And injuries happen. 3 becomes two in the NFL by week 4 everytime.

One man's take

Tyler Scott is ass

Some clown had him for 35+ catches this year....i had him as target # 6-8/10in this offense....and still stand by that

He's shown nothing thus far (including last season).....it would be nice if he could return punts so they don't waste a roster spot on someone like DeAndre Carter

Just read that Brier (or someone like him) reported that Allen reported at 230 lbs (vs 210 last year).....if true, not a good sign for an extension foe a 30+ year old

Maybe he should be TE1 vs Odunze??
You beat me to it, I posted the source article below.

Says they told him to lose the lbs and ask again at the bye week.

My translation is wait and see because

Trade/Comp/Sign/FA may all be in play.

If we have a 4th for a 1 year rental and got a 3rd/4th in comp pick, while he player coaches Odunze and Williams ...
Still a good deal.

I've got Velus Jones Jr. returning punts and 4th back.

For sure. I mean, even if they roll with Scott as the #3 next year, DJM, Rome, Kmet, Everett, Swift is still a hell of an offensive core. If Caleb proves he’s the guy, they could very well feel they’re set on weapons and not invest big $$$ or high draft capital towards another WR.

Obviously will have to let the season play out, but no matter how you look at it, the bears are in outstanding shape next year in regards to cap and draft picks.

After that muffed kickoff I’m done with VJJ returning any kicks/punts at all. You can’t trust him catching the ball.

The only reason I gave as high as a 2nd rounder for finding #3 is because I forgot about Scott's offseason and thought we were in more of a bind without Allen.

As long as Odunze is legit #2 for next year we're doing good with the #3 Scott or not. Plenty of #3s in FA and we're free to sniff around 3rd-5th for the next Monty.

If Caleb is the guy and the WRs come to play he should be making those #3s look good with a legit #1 and #2 for teams to worry about.

Velus is not a punt returner. He's bad at quick decisions and catching on the run. He's strictly a Gadget player/Kick returner
He's a bad pick is what he is.

One of the few times my post draft meltdown rant was spot on.

Poles was getting reamed for NOT taking a WR in the first 2 rounds when that draft was loaded and the Bears desperately needed one.... So he panicked and reached on Velus hoping he was just a late, late bloomer.
