With this being the largest collection of recliner Chicago Bulls GMs in the world, I thought it'd be nice to have a phony trade thread to act out our wildest fantasies. Here's one I just threw together on the ESPN trade machine.

Chicago Bulls trade
PF Carlos Boozer
C Omer Asik
SG Kyle Korver

Atlanta Hawks trade
PF Josh Smith
SF Marvin Williams

Why this trade works for the Hawks

Josh Smith has voiced his displeasure with the lack of ownership stability in Atlanta, as well as the inability to get out of the second round. Marvin Williams has been unable to find himself and people have continually viewed him as a bust. A change of scenery would seem to be the best option for both players. In return, Smith's energy and production on both ends of the court with Boozer's offense and Asik's energy and defensive upside. Korver offers some scoring and shooting ability off the bench if Jamal Crawford leaves in free agency.

Why this trade works for the Bulls

Carlos Boozer's injury history and lack of defense would be negated by the addition of Josh Smith. Not only is Smith able to shoulder some scoring load, but he's insurmountably better on defense and putting him next to Joakim Noah would create one of the most fearsome defensive front courts in the NBA, especially with Luol Deng's defensive improvement over the last few years.

Marvin Williams would get a clean slate and a chance to ignite some energy into our second unit. Although he's probably close to his ceiling, he is still only 25 and hits close to 50% of his 2-point shot. In addition, he's got enough length to be pesky on defense. You also have to ask yourself this -- would you rather have Korver for two more years and $10 million or Williams for three more years at $21 million?

Again this is just for fun. Not rumor based or anything. Just thought it would be fun to piece together some deals.

I know Josh Smith is listed as a PF, but he's more of a SF to me.. and I felt like when he did play SF, he was more effective.. so if that trade were to happen, we'd basically have 3 SF's on our team.

Plus Josh Smith is crazy inconsistent and dumb as a rock.

I wouldn't do this.

Josh Smith's boneheaded lapses would be covered up by Noah's solid D. Besides, he's a fantastic pick and roll defender, has the ability to go toe to toe with most 4s, and is one of the best shot blockers in the NBA. Plus, you have to consider that Boozer is always going to be injury prone and never give you a lick of effort on defense.

On top of that, Josh Smith is only 25 and locked into a very respectable deal for a few more seasons, whereas Boozer is pushing 30 and proved once again last year he can't be counted on in the postseason, or to stay healthy, for that matter. What if Josh Smith peaked a bit more? With his skill, he could easily be a 20/10/2 guy. If he stopped having Shawn Marion's shot selection, he could easily be an All-Star, especially next to Noah and Deng. That front-court would be deadly.

If we wanted shot blocking, we could just keep Asik and still have Noah and Gibson. They can all block shots.

Trading boozer and replacing him with Smith will take away from our low post scoring.

and I don't think Smith is going to get better.

I'm not just talking about shot blocking. Smith is a much better help defender and a much better pick and roll defender. Boozer has shown no aptitude in that department. Smith's shortcomings on offense are his shot selection, which makes his true field goal percentage look a lot worse than it actually is. Teams essentially dare to take him horrible shots from 15-18 feet. If he had a bit more discipline, that wouldn't be an issue. Besides, he's still quite formidable in the post, albeit not as polished as Boozer.

Rose/watson
jrich/butler
butler/brewer/Norbert
Boozer/taj
d12/asik

Assuming they wouldn't want boozers contract but id prefer to trade boozer

And assuming d12 resigns here of course
