I do not see how trading Dunn is worrisome for the Sox. They need other things than a DH and they can plug Paulie into the line-up and work some other guys in to spell him. When you look at Dunn's numbers they aren't really much better than Paulie's when you really get into them. PLus Paulie should be pretty fresh. The other thing is that I hate to see Paulie being used like he has been this year, or rather not used. Let the guy go out by playing him in the 2nd half of a season that should be taken as a holding pattern for next year.

That would be my estimate without looking at the number detail. I think that Dunn is a lousy clean-up hitter. I really don't care a lick about who takes his place in the line-up bottom line but I cannot stand watching Dunn at the plate.

Dunn is way better than Paulie right now

You might be surprised at the numbers. When you look at the over-all at bats each has had this season, Paulie is roughly having to same stats as Dunn except in wlaks and therefore On base percentage. I do not think that "way better" applies. Pro-rated, Paulie has pretty much the same BA, RBIs, HRs, et al. Like I said walks are on Dunn's side. The other thing is that I think it is much easier to know that you are going to hit in a game multiple times versus coming in once a week or so as a starter or come in cold off of the bench to pinch hit.

Went 3-5 today against a guy with awesome stuff. But the most interesting thing to me about him was the adjustments that he makes in the same at bat. In his last AB, he was facing a guy that could really bring it and had a nasty Slider. He made Abreau look silly on the pitch. Abreau then MOVED UP in the box. YOu really do not see this happen much anymore but he did it. He wanted to be able to hit the slider before its downward break. The guy threw another slider and Abreau stayed with it and fouled it to the right of first. He ended up grounding out but he hit the ball solidly. Only truly great hitters in history have been able to do what he did today successfully.

Someone, somewhere, really taught this guy about hitting and making adjustments. Paulie was as good a professional hitter that has existed in my lifetime and Frank had amazing plate coverage. But this kid is also very special and you can see it. He's got a great ability to move his bat quickly with a short stroke and make adjustments. I never saw a better rookie ever for the Sox than Frank but he may end up even better in his rookie season. Amazing talent!
