I can tell you don't watch college basketball at all. Payne is like Taj, only he can shoot from anywhere on the court.

Who plays PF behind Taj?

If the Bulls don't re-sign DJ, who is our back-up at PG?

If Butler shoots poorly or gets traded, who is our starting SG? Snell? Can we count on him?

In my mind, if Melo comes here, the Bulls are still weak at SG, PG and PF. Nobody knows if Rose will be ready to play a full season. We still need depth behind the starting five.

Yes I do watch college basketball. And its a very good chance I watch a whole lot more than you cause I live in a city that makes a living on knowing sports all around and not just your little area. I'm guessing you only get mostly regionally Wisconsin/Michigan/Indiana/Illinois coverage of sports judging from your hard-on for Payne. Now from what your saying is that your saying your upset that we passed up the opportunity to get another guy like Taj? Really? We just drafted two guys that were in the top twenty in scoring in all of college basketball and wouldn't you know what we need is scoring but you wanted the next Taj? In my best Chris Carter voice "Come on Man". Now will their scoring translate to the next level I don't know cause I am not a NBA scout but what I know is Taj is Taj and you don't even know if Payne could be Taj. Our main concern is getting Melo and filling in the roster with scorers off the bench not more Taj like guys.

Who plays behind Taj? How about Mirotic or Bairstow.

Thibs doesn't like rookies and he hates rookie PG's so what if DJ leaves, you probably freaked when Nate left too didn't you? There is always another vet back-up that Thibs will get the best out of.

Butler? Who knows but with Melo, we won't need Butler to rely on him to score, just defend the other teams best player. Can't tell with Snell either, let us see if he takes that next step.

Don't freak out just now and let things play out. If we strike out on Melo then you can start to panic a little.

Sorry, but you're wrong on all accounts.

I haven't lived in Chicago for a very long time. I live across the bridge from Philly, in South Jersey.

I said Adreian Payne is like Taj, only he's a better shooter. A big PF who can rebound, block shots, defend, clean up around the basket AND shoot 3s is indispensable on any team in the NBA.

Where do the Bulls get the cap space to bring Mirotic over if Melo signs here?

Considering the precarious nature of Rose's health, it's foolish to overlook the PG position. Both DJ and Hinrich could possibly be gone. The Bulls will need a solid backup PG to provide depth and insurance in a worst-case scenario. And given the current quality of PGs in the NBA, having a solid PG is crucial to the team's success in '14-'15. These are the kind of things Melo will need to consider before making any commitment to Chicago.

Ok so I was wrong on guessing where you lived. Good to go. Sure enough he could hit the 3 but his range was the college three. Taj and Booz had range from college three too. Noah has NBA three range, but I'm sure if he used it during a game he would be benched. I'm not saying Panye is a bad player or that he won't be good, just that he wasn't needed for a first round pick for us. SG/SF was our need. I think Bairstow will make a decent backup although I would have gone center in second but by that stage who knows what you get.

What Mirotic does depends on him and his want to play in the NBA. If he is willing to take the MLE on a short term basis to earn a big contract that is on him and then we can bring him over and sign Melo.

Rose's health is speculation. I more than likely will be at the Blue/White game August 1 to see first hand how he looks and I will let you know. If we do get Melo I am pretty sure there will be plenty of vets willing to sign at vet min to play on this team as a back-up to rose even DJ and Hinrich if they decide to. I am sure they will still be available after Melo decides where he wants to go.

Fair enough. hopefully you understood my point about trading up for McDermott.

Not sure what the rules are, but I wonder if the Bulls might be looking to flip him if Melo comes to Chicago.
