Because of a terrible penalty shot call

because dallas sucks!!!! hairy balls!! poopy balls!!!!

Shits getting fun in the West with those 6,7,8 seeds though. Who knows Vancouver might not make it. I hope they collapse. A Kings and a Flames win tonight is going to make that noise extra fun.

Hawks vs. Blues = Who owns tiebreaker?

Comes down to the ROW column, Regulation/Overtime wins (shootouts not included).

As of tonight Nashville has 41, Hawks/Blues each have 39.

Tomorrow's game is a must win then.

I dont want the Hawks facing the Kings first round without Kane. I just don't!!! I don't know how the standings will look come next week but I would rather not be a higher seed if it means facing the Kings first round. That is if the Kings do make it but they got a big win tonight which put em back in. This is now not just about getting a higher seed and home ice but also first round match ups. UGH!!!! So much conference and division tightness...so much brain hurt.

I would love if the standings stayed as they are right now as of the end of tonight

Ducks/Kings
Preds/Flames
Blues/Canucks
Hawks/Wild

I like those first round match ups but that's just me. Again as someone who isn't going to live games in Chicago anyways home ice means nothing to me as a fan. I mean it never freaking hurts and it's the best case scenerio to have last line change more often than not esp if a series goes 7 games and the business end likes home ice of course but for me...meh give me the Wild first round if it means avoiding the Kings. But I would be more than happy to get a higher seed if it also means facing the Canuck or Flames first round or even the Jets if they slide back in to a spot where we would face them.

Usually I really don't care about the match ups first round as I am from the camp where if you are going to win the cup you mine aswell go through the best teams and prove yourself that way as its extra rewarding. But without Kane its a different scenerio for me this season.

It's going to get interesting

If Hawks are a 4 seed, you may get a favorable matchup with Wild, but then you'll have to face Ducks/Kings in 2nd round without Kane, so why does it really matter? Hawks won't have Kane back until Conf Finals.

Matters for a couple reasons but mostly based on wishfull thinking. One I am a momentum guy. I know there are fans that don't believe in momentum but I do to a large degree. A first round win without Kane would be nice momentum and a boost for the team so I want the easier team even for a cheap momentum pop. Secondly if the Hawks win their first round match up and come out with no further major injuries there is always a hope that the team they face next round may be suffering one or come off a beating. Third..perhaps upsets occure in the other rounds and the Hawks avoid a better team in the second round regardless. Again I usually dont care about facing the harder teams but this year without Kane in the early rounds is a different feeling for me. This is all best case scenerio stuff without Kane. I am legit concerned with no Kane.

And as a hockey fan I like the possible match ups I posted. I would be involved in every series out of curiosity. Who doesnt want to see a Kings/Ducks rematch? Canucks/Blues are always games where they kick the shit out of each other (even though I could see the Blues blowing through them) and Preds/Flames offers an interesting match up this year. I still think the Preds over acheived and I think the Flames work ethic could give them a good battle.

Also I want to throw this in. I love the Kings/Hawks playoff match ups in the past and I think theses are the two best teams the last 5 years in the West. I also want to actually see them play a 7 game series again for all the bragging rights (as I think this is the last year for both teams before cap hell creates massive changes to both rosters). But I want that to happen when Kane is in the lineup. So best case scenerio for me as a fan who wants to see the match up is a conference final match up with Kane if he is indeed ready. Not a first round.

That.

Mo is why ANY team can win. LA has proven that theory. Lacking it can be fatal. St. Louis has proven that...repeatedly.

Oh, and I didn't feel the need to read beyond what I quoted. Nothing personal. :tiptoe:

Wtf, those are not the current matchups , TCD.

Starting last year there is no seeding anymore. Best division winner plays the worst wild card and they make a bracket with the 2nd and 3rd from the same division.

The only way we play the Kings in the first round is if we win the division, Minny craps the bed for the rest of the regular season falling out of the first wild card spot and Calgary stays ahead of the Kings

Or if we end up ahead of the Ducks + Kings behind the Flames

The new alignment is ok minus Detroit being in the East and the Florida teams in division with Canadian teams, but the playoff format sucks. You play a team 5 times during the year, then in the first round you play them again 4+ times. Should have stayed with seeding

I'd disagree. I think the new format really hammers home those division rivalries, and rivalries are what make this sport so fun, IMO.

I fucking HATE the St. Louis Blues right with a passion I can barely describe in words. And last year's playoff series between the two was just another gallon of gas on a raging inferno.

Also, TCD, I want no parts of the Wild in the first round. You talk about momentum ... they've been the best team in the league on the back half of the schedule.

Give me Nashville or St. Louis or Winnipeg. Two teams with little to no playoff experience and the other always manages to self-destruct in the playoffs.
