Cardinals win the NL Central again because they have the best pitching staff in the division.

Knowing the Cardinals? Probably plenty. LOL

Mentioned this on another thread. I wonder what the Cardinals have after Wainright moving foward? It is hard to imagine anyone after him assuming that ACE roll. I don't see Lynn nor Wacha doing it, and then their are the Garcia's, Gonzales', and Martinez's.

Don't get me wrong. They still have a formidable staff with some young pitchers. To me, their has been a huge drop off when a couple of years ago it was Carpenter and Wainright heading the staff. Carpenter naturally is gone and Wainright is no spring chicken.

I hope the days are coming soon when the Cardinals will be staring up at our Phat asses in the standings. :parrot:

Most likely. I think it might be one of the main reasons they haven't signed Shields. They must be encouraged by medical reports on Wacha and not be worried about some of the nagging Wainright injuries. That's a smart organization, if the there were reasonable concerns about those two pitchers Shields would be signed by now. Of course if their plan is to reload next year picking up a 33 year old starter could mess with that plan a little.

So is it possible to say the cards are coming back to the pack?

MLB Tonight are a bunch of hacks. They're just pandering to the Cubs' fanbase. The Cubs rotation is very weak behind Lester and maybe Arrietta (sp?), and putting them ahead of the White Sox or Mariners is just laughable.

If Hammels puts up his Cubs production and Arrieta and Hendricks repeat then they have a chance to be a top rotation. We have seen Bosio get quality starts with less talent.

Just removing Jackson alone should add 10 wins....

I'll go with 16 wins from Lester. Arrieta I feel is legit. I could see him getting 15+. Hammels IMO is good for 12 wins. Hendricks I believe was a fluke and the league will figure him out. 7 wins. Wood 7 wins. Rest of starters plugging in: 6 wins.

63 wins out of the rotation is a safe bet. Pen I believe will get close to 20 wins.

This is a middle of the road rotation at best.

I'm reserving a concrete prediction until we get into spring training. Way too much is still slated to happen. Need to figure out the bench, the rotation, if Bryant starts the year in the majors, etc.

Obviously that's a more reasoned approach to predictions, this is way too early, but you don't honestly think Bryant will start in the majors do you? With having to only stay in AAA for 9 games I think I'd be very angry if that were to happen and would seem to go against all the principles of this FO.

For 9 games and an extra year Bryant is down to start.

Probably true.

I and others still say it's the wrong move. That year will never, ever be seen.
Why? Is Armageddon coming? That year is seen either by the Cubs or the trading partner, isn't it???
