Yes I agree. My favorite being the thin crust from Phil D'Oros on the NW side of Chicago.

I don't know slaps.

That said...

All styles of pizza have merit:

Ultra thin: Pizza Pete, Orland ~ 145th and LaGrange...the last remaining branch of a limited local chain that my family got pizza from when I was a kid....paper thin crust, a little chew to it, sweet sauce, sweet onion, tempered by a just spicy enough sausage (sausage onion is my pizza style by the way) as a bonus, there is no better pizza cold the next day.

Thin: Beggar's...south side staple with good reason...zesty sauce, lots of cheese, mild sausage, white onion...wonderful pizza. Honorable mention: Capri, South Chicago staple in the shadow of the old US Steel South Works since 1956.

Deep/Pan: Arrenello's in Glenwood, IL.... specifically with pepperoni only....super sweet sauce, balanced by a very spicy pepperoni, buttery crust, tons of cheese. Honorable mention: Uno...the king of Chicago deep dish.

Thin crust is the best.
Currently.

I used to be all about the deep dish, but eating a loaf of bread with each slice got tiresome.

Also- pizza is a walking around food imo. Walking around with deep dish only leads to stains and sadness.

Walking around food?
Why the **** do you need to walk anywhere if you already have pizza?

I like when my taco walks.
Then I know for sure that I'm tripping balls.

That seems like a very NYC line of thinking.

Thin crust is not my first choice. Or second.

From well-recognizable names like Malnati’s for deep dish to Rosati’s and Monical’s for thin crust there is great pizza throughout Illinois with different varieties of crust. Lots of great individual places, too. Far superior to other regions in the US.
