It's not smoke and mirrors, it's a lot of young guys playing hard and a few vets who know what they're doing. we have way too many holes on this team to contend, but we're headed in the right direction. a year or two before we compete, and at that time, not sure if Cutler will be around.

6) Hroniss Grasu vs Haloti Ngata –

The battle of the funky names… Grasu was the turnstile last week that allowed Jay to get pummeled in the endzone. But after that, he settled down and played, well, decent. This week he goes up against Ngata. Ngata is well past his prime, and in truth, really isn’t dominating the position.

He’s got a calf injury and has been limited all week (didn’t practice Wed)

Even still, if he’s playing, he’ll be ready. He’s strong, experienced and will be looking to take it to a rookie.

Bleacher Report is saying that Haloti Ngata and Eric Ebron are both out for Sunday's game.

Thanks. Looks like levy is out as well. I may increase my spread a point or 2.

1. Cutler did not play poorly for 53 minutes.

2. The fumble was not Cutler's fault. He had 2 hands on the ball and was rocked shortly after the snap.

3. Cutler missed some throws, some looked like throw always, but he was also victimized by about 6 Bennett drops.

4. Jay usually plays better after he gets crushed. SF last season seems to be a good example. I don't know why but he seems to play better when he needs to protect himself a little.

-McPhee is playing at a defensive MVP level.

-Shame has been a fairly consistent defender and the defense will be worse without him.

You notice that Cutler plays better when he gets hit hard or a lot too huh? Funny cause everytime I see Jay take a big hit and I see him pop right up I always go Jays pissed watch him drive down the field now and he normally does lol. Thought I was the only one who noticed that.

If that's the case I vote that long elbows him in the face before every drive. Can't fail...

It's not really the case.

There are far more examples of him getting shell shocked on an early hit...

however, i think what is being referred to is possibly when Jay does something awesome - (which he does do) like rolls out and then runs for it and takes a hit - and gets everyone pumped.

A good example is that helicoper run into the endzone he did his first year.

But when he gets blind-sided in the pocket (which is what my OP was referring to), he generally becomes shell shocked.

can you blame him really? he got david carred for a good 3 years at least. and I'm not a cutler homer.

I don't blame Cutler at all. Never have.

I blame the people who kept and paid him.

And this is not a Cutler thread...Nor do I want it to turn into one.

The extension was ridic. Not sure if i want to shoot for another franchise wb in 2016 draft or wait to 2017 but i don't really follow college. If we are gonna draft a qb, though, i never understood why we wasted our time with lefeveours and enderles. At least pick one in the fourth round like ortong

Honestly.... We don't have to shoot for one next year. We should. But don't have to.

Fox, Gase and Fangio (if they all stay and not get stole) are set for 2 more years here.

This means they can keep Cutler for another year (his 2016 option already happened) and not take the blame for him.

Yeah, I know. Often people see something like twice, and mistakenly believe it happens all the time. Throughout his career if you pressure Jay, and get some good hits on him, he gets extremely antsy in the pocket and coughs it up. Usually multiple times.

Exactly. And I'm not shitting on him for it.

When a QB get's blind-sided, it leaves a lasting effect.

I'm just saying we need to not allow it. Bush or Leno have to do their job.

as much as I appreciate long and slauson, our o-line is still pretty much a shit show, and has been since 2007

I agree. I actually think if you gave Jay an elite O-line, he could be pretty damned effective. Perhaps a top 12 QB or so production wise.
