I agree. I actually think if you gave Jay an elite O-line, he could be pretty damned effective. Perhaps a top 12 QB or so production wise.

I agree.

If we surrounded Jay with an Elite Oline and solid weapons, and a top 3 defense that could stymie the other team and get him the ball, I would actually think he'd be top 10-12.

as much as I appreciate long and slauson, our o-line is still pretty much a shit show, and has been since 2007

There aren't many NFL teams with multiple multi-year pro-bowlers on it. And you and I know Slausen has been over-looked for the Pro-bowl his entire career.

And I'm not saying it's great or even good.

come on. elite? no. "passable"? maybe. like I said, I am not a cutler homer. he seemed like a taller frossman from the start, in that he will make some amazing plays and some awful plays, but I said as soon as we traded for him that he would get shellshocked and he has. #calledit

Yeah that's about right. Maybe a top 5-10 defense if he had all the offensive luxuries.

It's not really the case.

There are far more examples of him getting shell shocked on an early hit...

however, i think what is being referred to is possibly when Jay does something awesome - (which he does do) like rolls out and then runs for it and takes a hit - and gets everyone pumped.

A good example is that helicoper run into the endzone he did his first year.

But when he gets blind-sided in the pocket (which is what my OP was referring to), he generally becomes shell shocked.

I should've elaborated lol, you're right more often times then not when he gets hit a lot he starts throwing picks. But when cutler gets hit hard and the refs don't call it and he gets mad about it I see a whole new Cutler out there one that looks like he wants to shred apart a defense for once lol!

Since it's the lions 7 minutes of good jay might be enough, and then people can continue to pretend this is the year, despite the fact that he's playing exactly the same as he always has.

I've seen some improvements in the pocket and going through progressions. What's really the main difference is we're running the ball and not having him throw downfield as much.

Might have something to do with his targets as well. He's throwing to a couple of PS guys. His most reliable targets either played well last week in Weelsun (who is not yet a #2) or dropped everything, Bennett. Jay will always throw some dirt balls and some darts and tends to do so in groupings. Folks tend to see one or the other but he's not the 1st streaky QB to be good enough to win. Stops him from being great but you know, those are so easy to find.

I have always compared him to Rex but when Rex went down it would be in flames. Rex didn't **** around.

1. Cutler did not play poorly for 53 minutes.

Of course the ***** did.
2. The fumble was not Cutler's fault. He had 2 hands on the ball and was rocked shortly after the snap.

100% Cutler's fault. Let's just be thankful the defense only afforded the Chiefs 10 points.
3. Cutler missed some throws, some looked like throw always, but he was also victimized by about 6 Bennett drops.

A lot of Cutler's passes look like throwaways. He's just that bad. And Bennett didn't have close to 6 drops. He had 2
4. Jay usually plays better after he gets crushed. SF last season seems to be a good example. I don't know why but he seems to play better when he needs to protect himself a little.

He's a bottom feeder. You can win with him only against the worst teams and even then only if the defense plays great.

I'll watch for Jay to break the record. Actually I probably won't as i'll be in England. I'll watch him rewrite the record books when I get back on Fri.:beartroll:

I'll be limited to some running about in London on flight days and the Wiltshire region. Semi-work related in Salisbury and probably a quick trip to Bath and some countryside pubs.

What Jay has improved upon this season is his movement in and out of the pocket and his touch appears better also. He still locks onto a target too much and still throws off his back foot on occasion but I think he is somewhat better this season over-all.

The thing that worries me from the KC game was what happened in the 2nd half to our defense against the run. For about 8-10 consecutive plays the Chiefs ran the ball virtually unopposed at the line of scrimmage. I didn't really see what they were doing or what the Bears were not doing but it was pretty bad. Anyone catch that and know why this happened? Were our defensive tackles nicked up or what?

we were in our nickel and ratliff, jenkins and mcphee got owned at the line and pushed back, that gave charles good lines to run the ball. after that drive chiefs went back at trying to power run but that actually went to our advantage since we're really stout vs the run in our base D, goldman is nearly unmovable there.
