No, I wanted just Pace picking the guy. That was my hope. Pace was average, not a failure. George has been a failure.
Again, that’s not how it works in the Bears organization. Pace would have never been “the guy” to pick a new GM/HC. Like I stated, he would still be working with George, Phillips and an outside consultant. No way George ever gives a single individual all the power. Ok, so Pace was “average”….You want a guy who was “average” to run the show? Hell no.

Overall I’m fairly neutral on firing Pace. Could have made a case either way but it comes down to 7 years, 1 winning season and no playoff wins.

But everyone needs to realize that it could very well get worse. New GM, new HC, lots of aging players on the roster, not a great cap situation, and the same two idiots overseeing it all.

Tell that to Lamar Jackson, who would be a wide receiver if Polian drafted him.

True. But if Pace stays put at every draft slot, neither moving up or down in 2017, the Bears could have drafted Mahomes/Watson, Kupp, Kamara, Kittle.

That's where I'm at with it. Pace probably needed to go, but I've also got zero faith in the Bears organization to find an upgrade.

Mediocrity should never be acceptable. It's better to try again and risk failing badly because bad failing is really not worse than mediocrity to me. Neither are acceptable.

Just because this fucked up organization does this, it doesn’t mean the fans wanted it. It’s not like by asking for pace to be fired you wanted this

Enough with the weeping and gnashing of teeth. Give them a chance. If they royally fuck up, take a break away from them for a while, or wait until George passes away of old age at some point. No need for any fans to be pussies about all this.

I mean, I wouldn't call objectively looking at decades of pattern, and then using that to make reasonable predictions about future decisions = "being a pussy". But #beyou.

They have used up all my optimism, and I'm an eternal optimist. I've got zero hope or faith in them to get things right, until they prove otherwise.

Except even at 80 Polian knows more about football operations than Pace ever did.
Bill Polian said Chad Kelly was a better QB prospect than Patrick Mahomes, and that Lamar Jackson was never going to be an NFL QB.

And he will recommend the guy to mentor our young QB.

Chew on that.

Yea, and he also built multiple superbowl teams.

Chew on that.

He's allowed to be wrong. The guy is a football genius, not a fortune teller.
