Today's Loss Can Be Pinned On The Defense

No pressure against a banged up Dolphins O Line, Leaving guys wide open all day, No energy at all...they looked lethargic. They were either mentally unprepared or blew off the game when they heard Tannehill was inactive. They are far from elite and I see no hope of them correcting it against Brady and the Pats next week.

Pretty embarrassing performance from a "top 2" defense.

They looked dead before the half. But still on Fangio. If the offence is only going to dump passes in the middle, then instruct your linemen to get their damn hands up and stop rushing for no reason.

WTF is up with their conditioning? They loaf so much. I know it's humid in S. Florida, but is it that big of a game-changer? BN gave up a touchdown loafing.

I'm disgusted by the lack of effort, especially coming off a bye. Pathetic.

I was unsure about Fangio until today, now I'm 100% sure about him. Any average or better O-cor will out coach him. He has no sense on how to adjust, it is now obvious how to attack this defense, short quick passes to fast guys to keep the chains moving and most likely watch receivers bust open huge plays as the safeties and line backers are all to slow.

Fangio never changed anything and rarely does. When your not getting there with the front four send guys. The flats were open all day he never had the corners press or even changed the coverage. Brady is going to school Vic nect week.

I watched the Phins line up ready to fly. They were ampd up. Bears looked like they were ready to pack their bags and go home in the 4th. Pretty embarrassing by them. I hope Fangio rips their asses and they come out ready to play next week

It seemed that way to me, too. The Dolphins were flying around to the ball, especially in that first half. Some of those guys were playing out of their minds the way they were tackling in the open field. There was that one 3rd down play Tarik Cohen wasn't able to convert where one of the defenders came flying out of the air to wrap him up in the open field. They really could not have played any better. It was annoying af.

On the other side of it, the Bears couldn't get off a block to save their lives today. I saw a stat that said the Bears gave up 270 yards after the catch in this game. 270. That is a perfect example of what happens when you miss tackles, but I think it's also an indictment of a poor defensive scheme that teams can take advantage of. When you don't get pass rush, you can't play 10 yards off these receivers and give them a head of steam to make plays. They got killed on screen passes all game long. Inexcusable.

The 1st loss against GB was on the D too giving up points on every 2nd half possession. This D is far from being elite although many have branded them as such. They really lack the killer instinct.

Blame to go around.

But the D had a 21-10 lead with 6:50 left in the 3rd. They had a 28-21 lead with 3:17 left in the 4th (MIA scored a 75-yard TD 16 seconds later, btw). MIA had TD passes of 43 and 75 yards, both coming off short passes and no tackling. The BEARS had 0 sacks. Against Brock Osweiler. Against a beat up 2nd string O-Line. They gave up 161 yards rushing. Gore ran for 101 yards and 6.7 YPC.

Lol lots of over reactions here. Looked like a defense that has been crowned elite and took the day off. Maybe they were already looking to next week against the Pats? Idk. It was a bad day for them, but no reason to think they won’t bounce back.

Offense scored 28pts. The defense sucked. Fangio tried to out smart himself and lost. You have the best pass rusher in the league against a reserve Oline and you drop him into coverage. He will never be a HC.

Can it though? Are we forgetting the three turnovers, two by fuller that gave the ball to the O in the red-zone?

Speaking of redzone...........

I don't understand why there is a need to blame the O or the D, they both share in this loss.

The defense carried this team in weeks 1-3. This was the first game of this year that the offense actually outplayed the defense imo. Probably the first time that has happened in at least 2 years, maybe more.

I like Nagy, but he pissed me off. All week long he was touting the whole weather doesn't matter BS... look what happened.

I bet Virginia had a lock on the thermostat, keeping them from turning up the heat.

Show me another team that allows the Brock osweiler led dolphins to throw for that many yards, and allow that many points.

I worried about how the heat would affect this team in the 4th quarter. The temp in Miami was something like 90 degrees. I'm sure it was a lot more than that on the field. Add to that the humidity and you could see the team just ran out of gas. Anyone that has been down in that area knows that it can sap you. It did me a couple of years ago just walking around Disney World. I can't imagine being padded up and playing on that field.

It's not an excuse, just an explanation. The team had to know that this could happen and should have rotated players in more to compensate. Those 4th quarter drives should never happen, no matter how warm it is. The team had an extra week to prep for it. But I guess if you can claim the snow and cold as an advantage for us in December then Miami can claim the heat and humidity in September and October.

Everyone knew we were playing in high heat and humidity.

So can someone then explain why the defensive strategy was to allow Miami to dink and dunk all game, keeping possession and keeping our defense on the field?

100% on the coaches...

Well, I'm sure a lot of it was because of the pass rush. Get the ball out of Osweiler's hands quickly and give him a little to do as possible. I don't understand why Fangio didn't plan for this, especially since it was well known that Tannehill was suffering from shoulder problems. Even if Ryan started he probably could't take the ball down the field.

He did this crap against Green Bay too. They went soft against the Packers in the second half and Green Bay took short passes and turned them into big gains. Lets face it, Osweiler was not tearing it up until the end of the game. He had two plays go for 120 yards. Other than that he was in the 200-250 yard range. It was bizarre seeing the Bears play chase the whole way. Bad angles, bad position. Some of that can be placed on the players but others are just simply on bad scheming.

He had better do a much better job next week. Brady will burn us with that crap otherwise.
