Give me the unbiased opinion on Toews....is he the best player in the NHL? It seems to me, with the naked eye, the guy just seems to be in the right place, all the time.

Best player is subjective. Maybe the best center in the game depending on what type of system a team wants to play? I don't know where I would rank him as a fan probably top 5 players and top 3 centers. His hockey IQ is incredible and that makes up for some of the areas to his game where he isn't gods gift to hockey as does his compete level. He doesn't have the flashiest hands in the game although they are far better than average. He isnt the fastest skater but hes above average and strong on his skates, he doesnt have the hardest shot but he doesnt have to as he isnt a snipper hes one who creates chances for himself and others by reading play development extremely well. We dont need to get into his two way abilities as he probably is the best two way center in the game but other guys are close ie Kopitar and Datsyuk still.

I do think his compete level sometimes does make him cross the line from a focussed compete level to one where gets flustered and thrown off his game mentaly. But thats pretty natural with guys like Toews. He isnt a Crosby yet flipping out to officials but he has been close.

Top 10 forward is a great place to be in this league riddled with talent. Im shocked you put him there cause you are such a hater and a boy toucher. Where would you put him as a center? Top 5?

I put toews top 5 forward based on his IQ for the two way game only as nothing else would stand out for me as something that separates him from the pack. But i am a sucker for two way forwards not named Saad who is really only a 1.25 way player at the current time.

But then again I also put Kane as a top 5 forward in this league for the exact opposite reasons of Toews. However Kane surpasses Toews on offensive hockey IQ but he cant read a defensive play worth the shits. Kanes offensive gifts and intelligence trumps the shit out of that though.

All this doesnt matter anyways. Only matters where Corsi puts Toews. Probably 36

I have my issues with Malkin here and there ( not due to injuries he looks like he takes games off a lot and his two way game is average now whEn it used to be horrible) but i can agree with the rest of em. Maybe Getzlaf is a little too much down when it matters most though for me. He kind of treads into Joe Thornton territory sometimes. I do like Getz though. Bergs probably coming off his most inconsistent season but still a beast and did suffer from a Bruins team that couldnt remain healthy all year. I am a big Berg fan for sure.

giroux probably remains the leagues most under rated players even though his stats alone shouldnt put him in the under rated section. Guys an animal and isnt talked about enough in the wider relm of the nhl.

Yah backstrom is unreal. He lives in the shadow of the ugly russian. Its a shame. Not that Ovy is bad the guy likes his 20 shots per game and plays the laws of averages when it pertains to shooting 67890 times a season. Eventually 50 are going to go in. But yah Backstrom is the shit.

Only because he is bald and bald is the best. But Pronger carried Getzlaf to a cup. Since Pronger went bye bye the Ducks have been poop in the playoffs. People can harp on Pronger all they want for being a dick but that guy is a top 10 blueliner of all time. Talented and fucking mean on the ice which paid off while not playing on the Flyers in a cup final.

To this day the Ducks have had problems replacing Pronger. That melt down last year against the Kings doesnt happen with Pronger but it happens with Getz. Hahahahahahaha.

I could see an argument for Crosby or even Stamkos. That's it though, Tavares is not the better player
