Apparently the same reason he ended up in Chicago in the first place -- Dudley.

Still, I'm surprised he would take a lateral move to go there.
My guess is that there are better opportunities for advancement in the Thrasher organ-i-zation.

Yeah, with him becoming an assistant there, it sure seems like a lateral move. Then the question becomes WHY? Of course, Atlanta is a much more temperate climate; does he have family there? Since he's served on coaching staffs in Tampa Bay, Florida, and Los Angeles, it sounds like he enjoys the warmer climates.

At least our PP will get an infusion of some new coaching energy...

Keep in mind the minor league affiliate coaching staff that is also under the

Blackhawks payroll.

I say bring Savy back as assistent and have him run the powerplay since the last time is was working he was running it.

Its not going to be Savvy its going to be Mike Kitchen.

Although I do agree, Savvy would be a great assistant just for the sheer emotion and understanding of the players.

Most likely.

That's what's being reported at the moment.

Why would he want out of Chicago? Out from a team that just won the Cup?
maybe the stress of a boss who sucks is more than he wants to deal with

 1. Chicago White Sox
 1. Chicago Fire
 1. Chicago Bears
 1. Chicago Blackhawks
I believe he is going to be an "Associate Coach" rather than an assistant coach. Perhaps this is just picking nits, but it's not exactly lateral.

It's a step up, albeit a small step.

For one season it did. For several other's it didn't. The HEAD COACH has final say on the PP. So Torch was NOT running it per say, Q was the Ulitimate final say.

Savard is NOT coming back as a coach in the organization nor would I want him too.

I've been told by a couple people in the organization that Torch hasn't gotten along with his fellow coaches most of the year, and was going to leave whether he got head job or not...I guess that was correct.

He was Dudley's guy so it's no surprise he left.

Mike Kitchen and Q go way back from their days in the Blues organization.
