Looks like ~95% in central IL. Pretty exciting. Anyone know what time it's happening?

edit: I just checked, it's 1:21pm Central for the middle of it.

If I'm not in total, I will be in awful darn dark territory... Like in the 95% or greater. It will clip my state about 60 miles from the house , total zone edge is about 40 miles from work.

My nephews asked me for glasses to see it I have no clue where to find them on short notice. Being in Michigan I don't think it will be much of an event anyways I think it's under 80%

I couldn't find any either so I went to a welding shop and bought a piece of glass meant for a mask with a darkness of 12. As long as it's 12 or above it will work perfectly. It cost me $2.70.

Live in MO so I am in prime eclipse zone. I still don't have glasses so I plan to look at it with my left eye. Thus if I go blind it will only be in that one eye. In any event taking a 3 hour lunch break and going to watch it from my building's rooftop pool to get some better elevation.

Just finished watching it. Pretty cool. I was surprised at how many people were watching it. Had a few restaurants that actually closed so their employees could go watch.

Sun just looked brighter than usual, nothing special when I looked at it when I saw everyone else staring at it

maybe it hasn't happened yet in Chicago.

My favorite teams

  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Nebraska Cornhuskers
  2. Villanova Wildcats
I've been staring at this thing for the past hour, and I just don't get it.

I'm going bed now. I have a splitting headache.

My mom and I made a viewer device out of a rice Krispy box and that was more fun than the actual eclipse probably because all of the clouds made it difficult to see so I tried to look at it with my bare eyes and still didn't see much but now I am worried I might have contracted the eclipse blindness and I read that I don't find out for sure until tomorrow, so this turned out to be an extremely over-hyped and unexciting day with also a potential for a serious injury as well. Next time I will just stay inside and look at it on my labtop.
