Schenn is not an offensive dman. Leads the NHL in hits by a dman.

Kubina has a physical game and if was on the Hawks would be 2nd to Seabs with hits. Same as Clark. I like Whitney because he can move the puck and he's much better then Leddy and Hammer at this point IMO.

Didn't realize that about Schenn. Everytime I've seen him play, I've seen him more on the PP than anything else. I guess I will have to watch more Leaf games.

As for Kubina, I like him definitely for the playoff experience and what he could give to the Hawks. I know he's got plenty of that. But I don't know if he's got a no-trade clause on him, especially since he seems to like being in Tampa Bay.

Whitney, I agree would have more upside than Leddy and Hammer.... He could even be on the first pairing. Thats how much I like him. He could really do well with Hammer or Keith as a partner, but I wonder what would be asked for in return.

I love our prospects here and they're faring well.... It would pain me to see what other teams would want.

Schenn fucking sucks, and got knocked out in a fight by a Russian. He's also playing as a #6 in Toronto. No thanks. He's probably a couple years away from being a decent defenseman, if ever.

Not sure why his name has yet to be mentioned but I would like a rental of Souray. He's an UFA, veteran, having a very solid year and the cost would probably be pretty low. He'd be a very good fit in the 2nd line D spot.

Hawks don't need an all offensive d man and a guy who is always a hit away from the ir. No to souray. There isn't much out there still as far as blueliners go. With that said we might just end up with a guy like souray.

I have warmed up to the schenn idea a little as far as a none factual idea. Im still not a huge schenn fan as he's too young and hasn't really been anything special in Toronto but he does have some skill sets that are promising. Just not sure where he fits for us in the now. Playing him with leddy right now would be high risk. I could see him in the same roll he is used in Toronto as a 5 guy. Sure why not.

With that said. When i think about stans love e for players reaching their retirement souray is a perfect fit. Also i could see his name on a hawks jersey and that's how i foresee trades. Its very nostradomus of my style.

Souray will be here next week. Many a viles of arthritis cream will spill...the physical semi stay at home defense man we need will chuckle. Much thunder from jakos ass.....freedom...with sharp intestinal pain...frolik will score...toews will smile.

Blah!!! I called it and it took you two posts to agree with my genius thinking. I would accept Souray much more than shit ass Morrisson.

Lmao, his BROTHER, Brayden lost to Kovalchuk in a fight.

He's not playing as a #6 in Toronto. He doesn't play on the PP, so his ice time will be lower then guys like Phaneuf, Liles, Gunnarson because of that.

He leads the league in hits and is only 22. He's essentially the young type of D man the Hawks could use.

Yup exactly why I brought it up. Hawks could use another physical dman.

I hate the leafs, but would like Schenn if we didn't have to give up too much. Leave it to Burke to give up on a decent stay at home defensemen already.

Why have Schenn rumors surfaced anyways? I have a hard time seeing Burke making any real big deals come the deadline anyways and I certainly can't see him adjusting the Leafs roster that much esp on their already hole filled blueline. As long as the Leafs are playoff bound I can't see him adjusting too much..he will try to add an insignificant body like everyone else.

Burkes never been a really big trade deadline dealer anyways (I can't think of any moves he has ever made around the deadline that were significant...I may be completely overlooking one or two). He likes to save the deals for the offseason and draft.

You the mighty Rex who is from the Toronto area..please give us some insight on what any rumbles are with the leafs. Why Schenn?

Two kinds:

1. Dump dead weight. Try to trade anyone in this group for anything any team is willing to give you: Brunette, Bickell, O'Donell, Lepisto, Morrison, Scott, and I'll include Montador, Olesz and Froik although I doubt Bowman could sucker anyone into taking those contracts.

2. Bring up kids from Rockford to get them experience and assess their games at the NHL level: Hayes, Pirri, Morin, Olsen, Lalonde.

Is that too much to ask?

Burke always makes deadline trades, he just makes them a few weeks early so he gets more headlines than he would if he did it on deadline day. The Phaneuf trade was a few weeks before the deadline, as was the deal where he got Lupul last year.

Toronto is a market where people don't like players who are dependable stay at home Defensemen. Remember they ran Jason Smith out on the rails. They are all fed up with Schenn, and Burke was shopping him for a top six winger. Apparently it was Schenn for JVR until JVR got hurt.

Oh yah the Phaneuf and Lupul deals.

He never made big splash deals in Vancouver around the deadline. Just little small rentals.

Yah that sounds like dumb ass Leaf fans. JVR is def a Burke type player I could have seen him in Toronto.

There are rumors starting out there that the Hawks are indeed interested in Ruutu. They aren't the only team though as we have already heard the Wings are but also now there are rumors that the Canucks are. Canes will want a high pick and a fair prospect or just a high prospect (this is what i have heard)

Anyways it seems that the canes will make their minds up at the end of the week on wether they deal Ruutu or offer him something. Don't shoot the messanger if it's all untrue I am just spewing out what I have been hearing from TSN and Sportsnet.

I would love Ruutu back. As long as this team also nabs a blueliner. Again rumors are Bowman is looking for both.

Hate to start picking on Crawford again but damn we need a solid GK to go deep in the playoff. Can Emery be our no1 this year or whats out there when it comes to goalies? Im not that sold to get Millers paycheck to Chicago.

Funny you say that.... Burke LOVES Stay-at-home D-men... I know I sure as hell do. Talk about a potential conflict of interest there... Will the Leaf faithful give in or let their arrogance get the best of them? Schenn is young and can develop even further. If they run Schenn out of town I'd be surprised.

I'm not sold on Crawford, either, but we all knew going in this year that he wasn't going to be perfect every year. Its as much to blame on the crappy defense this year as it is on him....

Emery? He's a backup... can't blame him for doing what he's done.... Let's be honest... I think he's done much better with what he's had in front of him and the gaffes defensively have been there a majority of the year.

Even if we did decide to go out on a goalie hunt, really, what's out there? Roloson???? Schneider would be nice, but I seriously doubt Vancouver would ever talk with us. Honestly, there may not be much better out there to get for a decent price...

It's too much to ask if your plans include a parade on Michigan Avenue in June.

Burke, you and me love Stay at home D men. they win you games, and they aren't noticed. But that's Toronto for you. If Burke said he wasn't feeling the pressure, he would be lying because he wouldn't have made the Kessel trade.
