I'm okay with getting Nabokov only if we get Habby back.

Nabby plays all the regular season games, Habby plays all the playoff games.

Might not be a good idea if Foley is calling the games... he'll never get it right!

Who cares, we'd win the presidents trophy and stanley cup every year. Kaner could **** the presidents trophy curse if he wanted.

Sassone is claiming that Scooter is talking to the Oil about oldman Andy Sutton, the lumberjack. Cause we need another big ass Dman that isn't named O'Chara. He also thinks Scooter is talking to Dallas about Burish. I say, go for it, it couldn't hurt and hell it will be a big moral boost to the core.

Another old man on the blueline and another 4th liner?

If the team needs a moral booster buy them all hookers.

These 2 moves would be garbage and just add to the already clogged positions. If Stan is talking about these 2 players then it is official that Stan doesn't know what the hell he is doing and he should be managing a bantam rep team and solidifies my stance that Bowman is just as big of an issue as any coaching problems. Hate both ideas with a passion. If that is all that is out there or all there will be then just leave the team as is and aim for getting Q fired next season if the Hawks don't make a viable run.

I would take a Burish for a Bickell trade that's about it...and thats just simply to get Bickell off the club.

What in the world is Scotty doing here for, then? I'm scared....

But I agree on a Bickell deal.... I don't mind getting Burish back, even though that's a lot more than what Bickell's worth. It won't be a fair deal, LOL....

And why the hell Andy Sutton? The guy gets suspended for crap, thus will be looked at by the officials. I don't trust that guy....

Not going to lie. I sort of do also in a lot of aspects. Could have been a guy the Hawks needed for an energy boost in s few of these last games. Maybe not though who knows. Probably would have kept Morrison from getting his old no good skates on this club also. Doubt it though Stan and Q have no clue sometimes.

Carcillo isn't the brightest knife in the drawer. Yes... he had a major Special person moment with his hit on Gilbert.

That being said.... this team could use a spark plug like him right now.

Burish for Bickell is a 1.5 mil cap hit to the balls. Not a fan of that.

Neither am I, but at the same time, there's something this team is lacking right now... I think we need our old team back... -.-

Ruutu's future (update)

8:47AM ET

Tuomo Ruutu | Hurricanes

UPDATE: If Jim Rutherford gets his way, Tuomo Ruutu won't be going anywhere ahead of this season's trade deadline.

As reported by ESPN.com's Pierre LeBrun, the general manager of Carolina Hurricanes will try to re-sign Ruutu, rather than trade him. After meeting earlier this week, the Finnish forward and GM appeared to be on the same page regarding an extended future together.

"So our priority now is to try and re-sign him," Rutherford told ESPN.com.

Ruutu is expected to want a long-term deal. If both sides can't agree on dollars and term, the soon-to-be 29-year-old could still be available before Feb. 27.

Perceived to be one of this season's most desired trade rentals, Tuomo Ruutu may not be available after all.

The Raleigh News&Observer reports the general manager of the Carolina Hurricanes plans to sit down and talk about the future with the 28-year-old this week.

"I want to talk to him about where he's at, this season and in the future," Jim Rutherford said. "We'll talk about that and see where it goes. We're closing in on the (NHL) trade deadline, so we need to make a decision."

As valuable as Ruutu is, the spirited forward could fetch a solid prospect and/or pick in return for the re-building 'Canes. Considering Ruutu wants a long-term deal, Rutherford may be better off moving the soon-to-be unrestricted free agent.

The Detroit Red Wings, Ottawa Senators, Chicago Blackhawks, New York Rangers, Boston Bruins, Toronto Maple Leafs are said to be among a gaggle of teams interested in dealing for Ruutu.

Burish is a UFA after this season and his cap hit is actually $1.15M compared to Bickell's $541,667, the Hawks have the ability to add the equivalent of nearly $22M in cap space at the deadline. It's really not a problem.

Look as much as he is a fan favorite and hell he is a spark to the team as seen in the past, you are going to need more then just him. I may be alone on this one but, I would try to get Big Ben too if its possible, I can't see him being much $$. They were a great fourth line when they were here, and would add checking to the game since we lack in that department too. They both know the system and would contribute fairly quick. Then add some Beef on the blue line there you go!

I don't really think the 4th line is a problem, it's the 3rd line that needs help.

if we are talking about bringing back old players, how about this summer when we had a chance to bring in a veteran shot blocking defenseman like Sopel, and instead signed Sean O'Donnell....for what? Playoff experience? LOL

I would take Sopel over O'Donnell any day of the fucking month.

If he played nowhere but the 4th line for about 7 minutes a night, I would have loved Carbomb for another year or two. But Q's random line generator had him with TK at times: stoooopid.

Just so I understand correctly, that 22 million is the full amount of contracts for the year that they can add? Then when you depreciate it by the amount of season left you get the proper cap number? Or are you saying they can add 22 mil in contracts (actual value remaining) for the rest of the year?

Full amount. For example, they could add Ovechkin ($9,538,462) and Malkin ($8,700,000) and still have like $4M left of room. They have $5M in "real cap space" but prorated from the deadline is equivalent to nearly $22M of cap space at the beginning of the year. That's at the deadline though, right now that number is closer to $16M.

It's just easier to look at it that way instead of prorating every contract to see if they'll fit.
