I'm starting to view running QB like RB.

You should have two leaders capable of full work load when necessary, ideally of similar style.

Like Jalen Hurts for instance would be assisted with the similar style of TCU QB behind him.

He could take quarters off and plays off and what you are doing is building an insurance policy and trying to get Hurts some easier games to stay healthier for playoff performance.

Is there a trade down point to take Stroud to have in a Fields tandem?

My point is where we got Fields, at 15. Give me that bargain again and we are two deep at QB.

The picks we gain allow us to support Fields as well as spending the #1 in Carter/Anderson.

You get a back-up QB and a plan B.
You get more support offense.

If you can get a different piece at 15 I also like the BYU QB in the third. Or TCU QB in the 4th.

Well I don't like Young and I think Fields and Stroud are steals at 15.

If the opportunity arised because I did the smart thing on a big trade down to Tennessee or something, and Stroud falls a bit ...

I guess I'm saying I wouldn't pass on Stroud at that value with several more picks in my pocket than I started draft with already.

For me it's something to seriously consider outside the top 10 among other players I like.

Its not feasible from a personnel perspective. Quarterbacks are notoriously difficult to scout, and even if you do that successfully its an onerous financial commitment to keep them. Now you've multiplied that burden by two.

We aren't seeing alot of QBs play 18 games, much less running QBs.

It gives us comfort while using Fields to perform his strengths. And if Fields gets paid you have a backup for 3-4 years and possibly recoup the draft asset later.

Or you get Stroud ready in two years to get his shot if Fields fails to develop as a passer.

I'm not sure another player besides a Right tackle can help us win more games than a good back-up QB.

I think Fields would like having a twin brother to compete with.

With that big of a trade down we are talking 3 firsts and some other candy. So I feel good about Stroud as a luxury pick I happen to believe in. That's my top guy in this draft and the BYU kid.

Probably...

But I'm just sticking to Stroud is a player in my evaluation.

I thought he was the best QB of the major 6 bowl games.

The biggest issue is probably getting Stroud to fall out of top 10? That might depend on Levi's.

I'm just surprised at the lack of interest to get Stroud at #1. I like his data. I like his body. I like the juke and physicality and he sure didn't have to do as much as the TCU warrior or the BYU phenom, but I feel like Stroud COULD HAVE done the things those kids did.

Young scares me to death. Levi's had too many duds and accuracy issues.

The trick is to figure out what Houston wants and sell that player to the Colts. Then sell pick #4 to someone that wants to jump from early teens for the missing piece.

I think 8-15 is going to produce big value in this draft.

And then also consider this. If Stroud comes in by himself Holy toledo nobody would anticipate a qb sneak. We are talking turkey and this little bird is headed for the end zone baby!

well @Raskolnikov I ended up with too many interior DL and not enough DEs but your plan worked out pretty nice despite that:

Fields was drafted at 11.
