man im so tired of posts suggesting we move on from FIELDS.... please refer your thoughts on other pieces on the team that we truly need to build around Fields.

You misunderstand because I am a Fields homer who tauts his potential as unlimited while willing to admit he hasn't developed enough in the passing game and probably needs more support around him or be blamed for it again.

Ok...I get Fields situation and I want him to succeed. So if I only have one pick in first two rounds it has to be a cornerstone for Defense or support for Fields.

That's why I qualified this with acquiring extra picks. If I turn that one pick into 3 top 50 picks in next 2 years, a modest ambition.

Sure I admit I probably want to build the roster. But you have to go to one of my other dominant theories that you can't have too much talent in the QB room.

I believe those assets hold or grow their value if managed correctly.

You can hold Stroud or Anthony Richardson for 2 years as a valuable 2 deep asset, and if Fields takes a bump trying for 1000 yard rush seasons, you don't skip a beat.

If Fields holdsout you don't skip a beat.

If Fields doesn't have it you go to plan B.

If he signs long term you can recoup some of the value on Stroud/Richardson.

I'm just saying if you trade down, have multiple picks, and believe Stroud is a player, is at value he can raise in next two years, you shouldn't be afraid to hold roster talent depth at the highest value positions.

too many on here assess another QB as a Fields replacement instead of insurance

I would love to see how this would play out:

Coach - Great work out there, seems like you are getting yourself into a good rhythm and making some great plays out there...take the next series off so we can get someone else in there for a bit.

QB -

alright boys, we're going to have both of you in for this next series. STROUD- Don't run, if we're running it's Fields ball. FIELDS only pass if it's deep, don't even try that short game bs that's Stroud's game. NEITHER OF YOU let the other team know what you're doing back there.
GO!

@Raskolnikov has some good ideas but sometimes I wonder just exactly how fucking strong of a THC he smokes. Maybe it’s Pineapple Express?

Pssh.... There isn't a weed strong enough for this kind of delusional shit... I'm thinking it's something more like PCP or Angel Dust...

I'm starting to view running QB like RB.

You should have two leaders capable of full work load when necessary, ideally of similar style.

Like Jalen Hurts for instance would be assisted with the similar style of TCU QB behind him.

He could take quarters off and plays off and what you are doing is building an insurance policy and trying to get Hurts some easier games to stay healthier for playoff performance.
That would be a perfect fit for Eagles or Bears, kid's got heart like JF.

**** YEAH BABY LETS RUN THE WILDCAT BACK MAYBE A COUPLE OF TE SHOVEL PASSES TO TOP HER OFF BUD

In my dreams it's a four horsemen formation.

Two players are going to want to get width immedisteky and even drop back with the Qb. You only get one forward pass so use it wisely.

Rugby players get depth to receive laterals so they can be on the move with speed receiving them.

A player like Fields is bait in this scenario. Like how many guys will you chase him with.

You can do all this crazy and then throw the ball away outside the pocket back to the line of scrimmage for no gain or loss.

This is all to tell Mike Martz and his 10 step drops to "hold my beer." Drop 3 guys back 15 yards anf play big play/big loss.

5 seconds of laterals and chasing guys every other play is going to gas a d-line.

If you made your opponent chase you around for 10 seconds 10 times per half they will feel it, but only if you can turn these into first downs and run out of the same formation.

A zone blocking scheme with malicious guards isn't far from the ideal to run this. Claypool at WR. KMET at TE.

If we got good at this we would do it every week and defenses only see it once every three years.

Sounds like a bad day at the office for defenses.
