I just want them to do what is best for Fields so I am really hoping Dalton can play well so they aren’t forced to start him because of outside pressure. If he is ready great.

I kind of wish they just told them look you have next year as well do what is best for this QB. Remember Rodgers sat what 3 years and he talks about how it was huge for him. Now they are doing the same thing with Love.

I think Sam is probably right, as much as I want to see Fields play. No point risking ruining his development in a year they aren't going to win anyway.

hogwash! How do we know the M

No way! Play him when he has full command of the offense. D Watson started week 2 and lit the world on fire his rookie year. There are plenty of other examples of rookie QBs coming in ASAP and making an impact. Most recent is Justin Herbert. And besides how do we know Mahomes wouldn’t have had a great rookie season if he played right away?

I'm not buying that he's sitting out for 3 straight days because of "tightness". Nagy said something the other day about discussions with Doctors. I don't think you're talking to doctors over some back tightness.
I'm not saying he's not going to start LT, and I'm rooting for him to get on the field.

...but a rookie missing 3 days of camp when he's expected to switch from RT to LT in the NFL...

I wasn't aware he missed the end of his senior season with a back injury - and evidently Pace didn't either. Pace has set him up to fail - good job Pace.

I like Sam. Former player that takes time to interact with fans on Twitter. He’s a good dude in my book.

was one of the most active players in the community ever

and started working with bears brass (especially with George McC) on equality issues years ahead of BLM

never sought any recognition either. good dude in my book

When will some of you learn: There is no successful template on whether a rookie QB should sit or start.

"I saw Mahomes sit for a year, and now he's the best! So that's what the Bears should do!"

Yeah, we can also name guys who started right away and were awesome too.

There is no template. Stop acting like there is.

it's hilarious that Nagy has been saying the right thing from day 1 - "everyone will know when he ready"

and yesterday it was like oh, dang. yeah, he's not ready. guess he actually is a rookie

lmfao

Yep, pretty much.

It's a large leap to the NFL .

I will say though that the kid has the toolbox to do it. So far, seems it's just a learning and adaptation thing. Not seeing anything yet that makes me since, like pretty much every other rookie Bears QB I've seen play.

Will he be great? I hope so, who knows.

But I do have confidence that he will at least be good enough to stabilize the position for 12 to 14 years barring injury. I think his floor is Matt Ryan. Ceiling is sky's the limit.

Why wouldn't he be ready to HAND THE BALL OFF ?

Any scenario for this team where the first 5-6 games are not run heavy is a losing scenario for this team any way . So you design the early scheme just like you did the post bye games last year . RUN THE BALL except Fields will be able to make those deep ball opportunities it will bring . As Fields and the Oline gets more comfortable you expand .

Its almost as if the Bears haven't learned anything under Pace .

I'm not even thinking about the swap to LT. The dude clearly isn't healthy and the Bears aren't being transparent about it, as usual. I hope he ends up good at LT but considering every "expert" doesn't think he should be one, doesn't feel good.
