Uptown baby!
Grimson reminds me of my family....we gravitated to the "special people" in our neighborhood too!

If there's is nothing else I learned from the stupendous Zombie Apocalypse Survival Team thread this summer it is that Stu and his kind are most assuredly going to inherit the earth. So folks had better tread a careful line with him. Heh.

Does that mean I get to be black?

Yah, right. Like we give the secret handshake out to just any and everybody.

You could try association by marriage but you'd likely be better off seeing if there is something that the Sami back at home can do to hook you up.

I'd rather they package Versteeg, I mean Stalberg with some jr depth, for a real 2nd line Center. Don't think it will happen but know for a fact they are exploring opportunities.

And yea, Q, like Savard, has musicalineidus. No doubt.

It would be awesome to somehow tap into DT once again...and get Weiss out of FLA

Aren't Beach and Lalonde left from his drafts?

I read the earlier posts and my eyes were playing tricks on me. I thought people were saying Scott is either a "fucking" or a "giant" python.

Stalberg has no trade value lol. The guy is the second coming of Salmolenian. I would say trade him to the Leafs, but we actually got him there.

I wouldn't write off Stålberg as worthless just yet. I don't see the point in people hoping he fails, he's on your team and the better he is the better the team is. And if he improves he will be good tradebait. And I still consider he still has worth on the trade market, maybe not the centerpiece but a good component to sweeten a deal that could potentially land the Hawks a competent center.

Hey, if Stalberg is good, like in the past two games, that's awesome. But his body of work with us is more bad than good, and when someone is playing bad or an ill-fit, they are wasting a roster spot from someone that would help the team.

If Stalberg plays like he did against Washington or Detroit, I would gladly eat the crow and welcome him with open arms. In fact, his play between the 1st two and last two games was so night and day I wonder if Q or someone else told him to up his game or he's playing for Rockford this year.

BTW, Anyone else here impressed as hell with Lepistopheles and dissapointed with Montador so far?

Roster reduced to 33

Beach sent to Icehogs.

Brett Mclean waived.

Never mind, just saw it posted in a new training camp thread.

quite a few aren't happy with Montedor. Buffalo fans couldn't get him out the door fast enough.

The fact Campoli just signed for 1.75 sucks too. Surely he would have gotten that here. Dumb ass.

Q was pretty quick with an answer when asked about Beach yesterday. "we always bring an extra forward" to why he was scratched. Must really have been NON impressive in camp.

Man **** his agent, same goes for Zito's in terms of Niemi, even though now we have the better goalie IMO.

And remember when we were hoping Beach might make the team the year he was the 8th overall pick?

Having watched Lepisto here in PHX, he is good/safe/smart player. Very fast and I really think he'll fit in well here. Nothing flashy - but he seemed to start a season slow...then by mid season or once he found his role - he played it well.

Montador hasn't impressed me at all...but I'm holding out hope he'll help the PK. I know people were calling for the Hawks to get him the last few trade deadlines..on how he'd be a "great fit".....I didnt see it.

But he's here now....so I'll just hold out hope that in the system, with NHL players around him, he'll find his niche

The way I see it for D: we're weaker than last year but not in dire straights: Lepistopheles should be a definite boon to the back end that can bolster the bottom pairing or even help the 2nd pairing if we split Leddy and Hammer. I think with our situation the D will sink or swim on Seabrook not crapping the bed like Keith did last year and Keith improving to at least Pre-Norris levels.

I don't know if it's going to be worse - and not sure how that can be said, without 1 game played as a unit.

It's going to be different, yes. The PK sucked last year with that group. They werent physical AT ALL. Cullimore and Boynton were on the team a good portion of last season...and they're worse now?

They lost mobility - losing Campbell and Campoli - but Lepisto can skate and a full year of Leddy won't be bad. Campoli is replaced, but a step back from Campbell for sure.

But they're much more physical as well. Take a look at last years hits and blocked shots out of the D -

Seabrook - 227/154

Keith - 45/149

Campbell - 28/101

Hjarllmrsn - 46/166

Campoli - 26/21 (99/91 combined)

Leddy - 26/46

Boynton - 50/74

Cllimore - 38/34

So Seabrooks 227 hits - were 32 less than the 259 the others had combined.

Losing Capoli, Campbell and Boynton/Cullimore (as a combined # 7)...the Hawks lost -

161gms - 7g - 43a - 50pts - 142 hits - 230 blocked shots - career combined - 12

But adding Montador, Lepisto and O'Donnell - (note, I only took Lepisto's stats from after trade deadline to be even with Campoli)

173gms - 6g - 43a - 49pts - 162hits - 238 blocked shots - career combined +140

Campoli is a career - 39, to where Lepisto is a career +20. This is an interesting stat. Now...I know, some will throw out - "+/- can be a factor if on a shitty team...." especially where Campoli was on NYI and OTT. (And Lepisto on PHX)...however, looking at their history...

Lepisto

NHL - 150gms - +20

AHL - 125gms - +53

FIN - 190gms - +37

Campoli -

NHL - 397gms - -39

AHL - 94gms - +2

OHL - 247gms - -1

Own zone coverage never seemed to be a strong point for him, or the 'minus' stat seems to follow him around.

Now Campbell...his transition game will be sorely missed, and hopefully Hjarlmarsson's game doesn't go south without him. However, at 7.14mil and he didn't play on the first PP unit...only played PK this year, and that was because there were no better options...is alot of money to spend on a 5 on 5 only player.

Montador won't be able to make up his transition game. Leddy will some. But hopefully Montador will be more physical, and improve a shitty PK - at a fraction of the cost.

So worse? I don't think so...but a different. It'll take a few games to find the pairings/roles...but may actually be a better group.

he wasn't even given a chance this year, I knew he wouldn't be. one preseason game played, on the fourth line, and still got a point.
